Anyone Developing at the moment?

Please remember I only mention lowprices here for a bit of fun, I'm well aware that the site has some shortcomings. It's just the site where I add EVERYTHING. I then work on other niche targeted sites.

Do you have any sites not done with the lowprices design?

Like MensShirts , DubaiHotels, Freenetbooks , Barbodos flights etc ? All which have same awful design, layout, content issues etc?

Honestly you're doing what people were doing about 10 years ago, it worked then but it definitely doesn't work now.

Please please please take the advance from members on here :) We're trying to help

I always listen and take stuff on board. The only reason I don't act is because I'm working on other things. I appreciate the advice though, I agree with most of it!!

Rgds

Are you disadvantaged by a lack of technical knowledge but also lack the spare finances to buy in the expertise? You seem to have a real enthusiasm and drive and despite what is a glaring fault with your sites you seem very upbeat?

Have you considered what you could achieve if you matched your drive and enthusiasm with a superior product?

Wordpress £0, Free Theme £0 , Write Content Yourself £0 , Learn basic SEO practices £0, Expertise needed to do these 0 . There really is no excuse :)

To be honest Max I think most of his sites are built using Price Tapestry which is far harder to skin than Wordpress etc.

@ AssetDomains,

Thanks, through one of your links I found another link to a plugin called ".html on PAGES" that makes all pages end in .html, I can now convert my site to WP and use the old page urls :)

If I was a developer I might go and buy some flash looking responsive theme but, I'm not a developer, so I'm happy with my old WP theme.

I've never heard of bootstrap, I Googled it, pages of techy stuff, window closed

Thanks for the comments and feedback guys. Whilst I think you're all raising fair points, you're just going to have to accept that I am working on my own list of priorities. Perhaps we could move the conversation on from my own sites now?

There's loads of free responsive themes with what Edwin said about google it will pay to switch over to one of them if your staying with wordpress.

As for bootstrap its not all that technical when you get stuck well worth an afternoon to learn the basics for anyone who develops. If pages of code aren't your thing then YouTube a guide or two :D

Not everyone gets the tech side Max, the acronyms SSH and CLI are enough to put some people off, let alone attempting to use them.

I had to Google CLI and I still don't know what it stands for and i've still managed to get sites up and running that look good. I know tons of people who have no website knowledge, not technical at all who all have managed to set up wordpress sites that look good and have good content.

so basically all the advice you've got from people who have successful businesses you're going to ignore and just carry on doing stuff that doesn't work haha. I give up, good luck with the sites.

And yes lets move on to talking about other peoples developments and we can offer them advice/tips if they need it as they may listen :)

I have an adsense site with a CTR overall I'm pleased with

For Feb
Desktop 4%
Tablet 6.4%
Mobile 2.2%

It is not responsive currently

What effect on CTR have people found for mobile after changing to a responsive design?

Accelerator's sites may look like crap, but there are also so many people on here who build amazing looking responsive sites which are nothing more than "show sites" so that they can call themselves entrepreneurs on Facebook and Twitter. They give up after 1 month when it is not making £xx,xxx a month and move on to the next fantastic looking site which also doesnt make any money.

You have to credit accelerator for at least posting his site.

Here's an unfinished site I've been working on - on and off - for a couple of months. It needs a whole lot more content still and I'm yet to integrate the accommodation details (that's the earning element), but I'm happy to put my head out of the trenches if anyone wants to give feedback.

Lake Garda Holidays co/uk

A couple of points to bear in mind:

1) This site is unfinished because it's well down my list of priorities right now.
2) Robots is set to disallow all currently, because I have no interest in any traffic until I am ready.

Thoughts?

Very nice, clean, empathises the photos and the content.

You need to sort the .htaccess so that when people type it in without the www. it still works :)

@ AssetDomains, I don't like the look of most themes, these responsive themes for example:

http://colorlib.com/wp/free-wordpress-themes/

There isn't one there that I like the look of or would use, any site I go on that lists 40 or 50 themes, they all look the same to me, full of images that transition or slide in to another one, or one big image that takes up the whole screen so you have to scroll down to see something you want to read, I hate sites like that. I often come across sites that look like that, and the first thing I do is hit the back button, I like normal old fashioned looking sites with borders round them.

As for bootstrap or other techy coding stuff, I can't code and have no desire to learn coding, it's not something I couldn be bothered reading about it, some people like techy stuff, I ain't one of them :)

Thanks - it's IIS rather than htaccess for me, but I've done that now to make life easier for you lot.

We don't normally worry about that sort of stuff until a site goes live, and we keep a go live list of jobs (we're a web development company at heart).

No one else is looking at it right now anyway I don't think.

You might feel like that, but you should develop for your audience rather than yourself :)

That's great. But there is one thing I don't understand, if you don't like techy stuff, why are you involved with domains and websites?

Sometimes you need to know when to walk away and stop wasting your time. Not sure if anyone knew this site but for me it took booking last minute flights to a new level. There's a lot of work in the product, more than any of us could ever dream of pulling off yet they walked away from it ...

http://www.b-reel.com/projects/digital/case/401/escape-flight/

Check out the video at the bottom for a better idea of what it was about.

Any information anywhere as to why they walked away?
