Code of Conduct for Acorn Domains.

We are an online community for domain investors and IT sector entrepreneurs and professionals. To ensure a respectful and productive environment for all members, we've established this Code of Conduct.

Our Core Values:
  • Respect: We value diversity of thought and background, and expect all members to treat each other with courtesy and professionalism.
  • Open Communication: We encourage open and honest discussion on domain investing topics.
  • Constructive Criticism: We welcome constructive criticism and diverse perspectives to foster a dynamic learning environment.

Unacceptable Behavior:
The following behaviors will not be tolerated:
  • Discrimination: This includes any language or behavior that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory.
  • Harassment: This includes personal attacks, insults, threats, bullying, or any other behavior that creates a hostile environment.
  • Hate Speech: Language that attacks a person or group on the basis of attributes like race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity is strictly prohibited.
  • Off-Topic Content: Discussions should be relevant to domain investing and related business topics.
  • Spam and Misinformation: Posting irrelevant content, spam, or knowingly spreading misinformation is not permitted.
  • Attacks on Nominet Members and Officials: We expect respectful discourse even when discussing Nominet policies or actions. Personal attacks on Nominet members and officials will not be tolerated.

Consequences of Violation:

We reserve the right to take appropriate action in response to violations of this Code of Conduct without a warning and explanation, including:
  • Warnings: Users will be notified if their behavior violates the Code.
  • Temporary Bans: Repeat offenders or those engaging in serious misconduct may face temporary bans from the forum.
  • Permanent Bans: Users who repeatedly violate the Code or engage in egregious behavior may be permanently banned.

Moderation:

Our administrators and moderators are responsible for enforcing this Code of Conduct.

Freedom of Speech:

We believe in open discussion, but this doesn't extend to hateful or discriminatory language. We differentiate between expressing an unpopular opinion and using offensive language. Our focus is on the impact of someone's words and their potential to create a hostile environment. We reserve the right to moderate content that violates these guidelines.

Reporting Violations:

If you witness any violation of this Code of Conduct, please report it to a moderator..

Dispute Resolution:

If you believe a moderator's decision is unfair, you can appeal it by contacting [email protected].

Personal attacks on any members or officials of these organizations will not be tolerated.

The aim is to work towards continuing to establish polite, pleasant and professional envorinment.
 
It seems 1 more important part is to be included to clarify that the expectations for respectful behavior extends beyond the online forums and apply to your physical events as well.

This Code of Conduct applies to all online interactions on our forums (dnforum.com & acorndomains.co.uk) as well as all networking events we organize or co-organize. We expect all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers to uphold the principles of respectful discourse and professional conduct outlined in this document.
