Do your buyers pay the nominet fee?

How much hassle do you get explaining to the buyer how the transfer process works?
 
There is no hassle and no explanation - otherwise it is not worth my time.
Once they agree to the price in the opening email, I ask them simply to confirm to which email address the domain name should be transferred to. As the ROI is usually solid, I sometimes cover the fees.

Subject line: the domain itself.

Monday mornings and Friday after 4pm tend to be the least productive time-frames for sending emails in terms of interest/email opening.

Optimal email-reading/opening times from potentially interested parties seems to be between 2pm-4pm.
 
In the body of the email, yes.

Thanks for all the info - good to somebody sharing a lot of detail. Can I ask how you source potential buyers and also what volume of emails you end up sending out per domain?

Also, what email address do you use and do you use any special mailing software?

Source of potential buyers is primarily Google.co.uk, under the domain's exact keywords.
30-60 emails/domain is usually sufficient.

Email address is the email on the potential buyer's website. Individual emails are sent out 1 by 1 (takes time, but is worth the effort). ;)

Can i ask did you sell this before you registered it as i can see from the whois it was only registered on the 11-Mar-2016, the same day as you posted you sold it.

Also do you send from a email from your main business or a random gmail,yahoo etc.
