Hi Guys

I have not renewed these, over the years I've advertised them a lot on forums, never had any interest. I don't see a jewellery business wanting them as they'd rather brand on a unique name. I don't think there's that much money in developing a directory type site.

Was I right not to renew? I think so but sometimes I wonder.

.net that kills it - I would have bought them if they were .co.uk / .com

I’d say right not to for reasons you give also if available in other tlds or hyphenated com etc and all that are regged are for sale not developed all add to chances of a sale are slim to none....

I think these are good examples of domains that to the inexperienced (like me when I regged them years ago), seem valuable. You think jewellery, that costs money etc. However, they aren't actually valuable, because they don't help to make a sale, as a jewellery seller will want to use strong unique branding on their own website. Making a directory of jewellery shops adds very little value (apart from perhaps if you can get search engine rankings, which will be difficult). Thus I think these domains are actually of low commercial value.

It's good to hear people agree with me so far. I'd just seen the NamesCon auction inventory and that made me have some second thoughts.

I've never sold a .net, I've owned several over the years. I would say you were right to drop em.

I'm glad people are agreeing I should have dropped them LOL.

I think these domains are representative of mistakes people make in picking domains. These domains aren't that valuable because of the way jewellery gets sold, i.e. mainly in a shop and there are too many advantages to that to change.

The domains aren't that valuable because they're .net. If they were .co.uk or .com then myself (as per my original post) and probably many others would have made you an offer

from an affiliate marketing POV the names would have made excellent individual specific sites
