Read an article in this month's Focus magazine about wireless electricity and future uses. Interesting subject and quite surprised the org.uk was available at reg fee. All other notable extensions were gone.

Probably one I'll hang on to for a couple years at least to see how things develop.

Any thoughts?

Once wireless electricity is a reality, how are you going to make money from the website?

One would assume once wireless electricity is feasible/safe for the mass market there will be a whole range of applications and items to sell from an affiliate angle. From simple products to full home installations.

Domain aside (while I will almost certainly not be developing), it's a hugely intriguing subject. Mobile phones that never need to be charged, electric cars that can be re-powered without the need for plugging in, no more wire clutter. I assume the reality is we are at least 10 years off anything like the concepts discussed in the magazine, but it's all quite exciting regardless.

First, let me admit to having:

WiCharge.co.uk
WiCharger.com
WiCharger.co.uk

... a bit of a punt in this sector, but I have the premium extensions. With your .org.uk, I think you will be limited to building an informational site yourself, as resale value will be quite limited. As far as selling stuff, then sure, you might be able to sell some products, but I think you'd be better off sales-wise using domains with the exact match to specific product name instead, i.e. your name is more informational than commercial.

All just my opinion of course.

I've got the co.uk. Got it a couple of years back, sitting on it for a few more yet...

Great speculative buy imo. I do think you'll be waiting a decade or more before wireless electricity is available commercially over a short distance. Of course it's incredibly hard to say what its value would be. I'd guess low-mid £x,xxx at some point in the future, assuming people don't call it 'wireless energy' instead.

I would suggest putting some content on there and getting it crawled.

Yea I picked up a few other names along the "energy" and "power" lines on Monday since, like you say, there's a good chance it would be deemed as actual "electricity".

In a small way, wireless electricity is already a reality. Many electic toothbrushes use this tech to avaoid the water/electricity incompatability.

Furthermore, if you type in "recharging mat" to amazon, you'll find mats that you just place your phone (etc) on to recharge, no wires.

You could amazon affiliate the name whilst you wait for the sector to grow. Probably no where near worth it though for the limited market i think.

1890 -1910 Edison, Tesla etc experimented with wireless to transmit electricity prior to the grid its nothing new….. Just a new spin... Could be a bit of wait to make any income from the name..? ;)

Yeah this tech has been around for a long time. It's just that making electricity travel wirelessly (and safely!) over any reasonable distance is a little way off I think.
