Good evening.

I'm looking for someone with the above skills to do some certain configurations for me via windows remote desktop.

I can pay up to £40ph for this work.

Please PM me some info if you can - e.g. v.brief outline of your skills.

Thanks.

Just some DNS configuration/binding and zone file setup etc. Last time I did it was on a 2003 server in 2003, needless to say I'm struggling a bit with this one, I'm not really a technical person :?

What do you need? All of our servers are on that platform

Ping me an email if you like - this is my day job.

I'm looking for DNS expert..

I'm wiling to pay £100 per hour for your time. You *must* have a complete knowledge of DNS (that does not mean running internal DNS for a small company network or your home lan). Not someone who's watched a few youtube vids and fancies a punt. You need to have strong knowledge of Win 2012 server.

I would expect someone with the right knowledge to be able to fix this issue in a couple of hours directly on the server.

If you think you want to help PM your details - ta!

Ok, responded again but didn't notice the dig in your previous comment, so I think I'll retract my offer.

Doesn't look like my skills are good enough for you, I would have shown you my MCP transcript which has 28 MCP exams or the orders from companies with 10K+ users that I work for performing infrastructure work, one recent order regarding troubleshooting a hub/spoke AD environment with 50 sites - which relies upon... DNS.

But I don't need to now and I would have done it for nothing btw.

Good luck in finding an 'expert'

Shame humble has shunned you Tony if that is the case, more than enough experience to handle what was requested.

Are you sure you're in the right place ?

I mean, when I need a professional, say a doctor, or a surgeon, I don't go on kinda similar forum and ask, I go to clinics and places where doctors and surgeons are found, then I research them.

I haven't shunned you, it just that the person would be better if they weren't a hardcore 'domainer', which I should have said upfront so apologies.

I have a had a couple of people get in touch now, see if we get anywhere.

You are probably right, I'm on my forth person now..

it goes.. give them remote desktop, they login, after a few hours, logout and say:

"hmmm, I'm not really sure whats going on I'll have to think about it".

Last night I had a chap who was MCSE'd up the eyeballs, had an MA and 20 years experience on Windows.

- its amazing

There maybe many people on here who can do the job, but your requirements suggest here isn't the place. Personally, I would lower my sights a little and accept someone who may take a little longer but gets the job done.

Here's why, £100ph isn't going to cut it, the agency I do some mech/grunt work for, would be looking at about £165+Vat per hour for diagnostics alone. Once diagnostics are done and they have taken your right leg (you got 2 right), you get a quote for the work (often well over priced) and then they take your kidney (you got 2 of them too right). The techs can be anything from £150-250+Vat so I hear. Jack your budget to the best part of a grand and you will get exactly what you want, so I'd consider a hardcore domainer :)

shit.. looks like I'm going to have to go grovelling to a hardcore domainer.. :)

@skinner I've thought about this and your rates are based covering overheads of a *proper* company with associated infrastructure costs. I'm sorry to say that if £100 per hour to pay an indivdual for some ad hoc server work is not going to cut it then I'm in shit city :)

I can tell you now there won't be many people in England let alone here on £800 per day wage.

Not many no.. Skinners' pricing is pretty accurate though - so long as you're talking partner/reseller pricing.

The clients for specialist enterprise consultant / architecture usual pay around £1,200 per day.

Discounts for 20+ days though..

Yes, absolutely a proper multi skilled agency, this is the only place you'll get the high level of professionalism and efficiency you appear you want.

I have no idea what a freelancer costs or earns, the last tech I worked with were hitting 60k a year (Edit: were a cisco based tech working on an IP Phone solution, not sure how their pay relates to the skills you need). I would assume a freelancer, charges well over the £230 a day they earn (based on a 5 day week) in a full time position, since work wouldn't be regular.

Maybe someone else knows an accurate day rate ?

Do you want to post a bit more about the problem you're trying to fix?

For £50 per hour I will poke it repeatedly with a stick

EDIT: Should have pointed out there's a half day minimum
