Why 20 Posts before Listing sites for sale?

Oh you guys are such a tease. Another 25 posts! Guess I'd better go and dig up my domaining encyclopedia ...

Well if we keep talking to each other we will get up to the required post limits !

I'm at 20 - woohoo!

Those are interesting domains. Amazing that a query for "put me up" would generate 5K uniques a month. The language has obviously changed a lot since I became an expat. Are these popular phrases in the UK now?

Funny thing, being based offshore, is that you lose all sense of where popular cultural references are at.

That's not what catches the visitors, something like "bed and breakfast in middlesex" does - that is what the site is for.

im new too and seem to have the same problem - although i was able to enter a domain in the auction - maybe try that?

I understand why you do it, but it is annoying when i want to sell a few names and i have another 18 posts to do!

I would, but I want to sell the sites as going concerns, rather than just 'potential' money makers.
Only 16 posts to go

while you are waiting to get your post count up, you could send me the list of names you are selling by private message :)

I'm sorry you all feel that way. A forum like this allows you to list and sell domains absolutely free. And you don't have to pay a % commission when you do. It is strongly suggested, and quite frankly forum etiquite, to take part in other non-sale areas of the forum as a return on this free service.

I'm checking myself and realizing I need more balance and am going to the appraisal threads now to help some people out.

I hope you stick around, but not just to list your sites.

p.s. At least redtruck was a buyer as well. Admin - I'd even suggest that someone who buys gets their 20 posts waved.

Yep, I love buying domains. I think there must be an endorphin connection.

Think I'll go join Jacal1 helping people out.

I've been a collector for about three years with about 1k direct nav URLs, and I'm in agreement with the whole 20 post restriction cause i'd like to post a few on here and test the market a bit.....

But... I will admit that making me to 20 posts is educating me about price expectations and forum protocol...but I really didn't budget the time tonight to do this...I've been waiting for years to sell and I'm anxious! :)

actually....while I'm at it, is there a similar restriction with the SIGNATURE? I can't seem to get mine to show up...waiting to see what happens after 20 posts...

Jacal,

You and redtruck got a great thread going. I'm 100% behind the lifting of the restriction if you are speedy buyer. Great suggestion

redtruck.... it is definately the endorphin rush...or the promise of making millions on something you paid $7 for.... but if that were the case, I'd have eclipsed the Saudi Emirs by now....

Posting like this to get your post count up won't do you any favours either.

I can see you don't like the restrictions but in the scale of things if you are a serious domainer and a regular forum user 20 posts is nothing.

The controls are there for the exact reasons you are showing, your main interest is getting your signature to show.

The site is controlled so everyone can have a decent community to work in, and not be bothered by people coming here just to spam the site to promote their own sites or affiliate links.

Don't get me wrong, new members are very welcome but we are trying to maintaining the quality of the site / posts at the same time.

The FAQ section gives a full description of the rules, including signature rules.

It's a silly rule....

If I come, sell my domain successfully then I'm going to be more inclined to actively take part in the community. But with this restriction you are just discouraging new people from bothering.

Attitudes like that are usually from small minded people!

Your main aim was to use this forum for the promotion of your domains. Not to contribute, learn or even really comment on other posts.

Step back 21 places ;)

Have a read of the forums first maybe, theirs a lot to be read on here before their is to be posted. (for new and old members) :D

I agree with 'golddiggerguy'.

Filling a forum with chaff so you can promote trademark names is hardly benefiting a community of domainers.
