Who's got Twitter then? (Or, who hasn't?!)

Smashing, added some great people to my follow list, thanks! :)

Brilliant - must be lots of Acorners on Twitter! Who else then? :)

Am I missing out by not posting about my latest toast topping on twitter, or my relationship status on facebook? If there is money in it I'll sign up.

The big G will show many results when searching for "why you should use twitter for business" or similar. ;)

PS: Don't do it whilst drunk. :p

I just cannot get into it or see the fascination.

Maybe if you want to follow some superstar then perhaps but then again if you have signed up to their mailing list whats the point on "follow us on twitter"? Is it because you get the news a few hours earlier but then get it again as they broadcast to their mailing list.???

If google wants to rank what time I took a shit at and how it looked as i upload a photo to facebook then i'm missing out.

I signed up to twitter and followed a few people but became bored with it before the week was out as 90% of all messages were just pure dribble.

Same with facebook. The Mrs loves it but again, to me, it's just a load of twaddle. What's the point? Oh look, here's some photos of someone who has had a baby who you haven't spoken to since you left school 20yrs ago but you accept them as a friend although you have no intentions of ever actually ever speaking to them on the phone but its quite acceptable to comment and congratulate on the new arrival. What a total waste of someones time.

I'm most likely missing out in something here as I'm in the minority but i honestly think i'm missing out on nothing. I'd rather speak to someone on the phone to catch up on the crack than compete to see who leaves the best message. Especially as their facebook friends contains other people that never really were your friend but you feel peer pressured into accepting them into "the same gang" as your other friends have accepted them.

Maybe in a few years time I'll be on BBC2's grumpy old men :)

I should of added, I'm more happier receiving an email alert from google news on some relevant information than "Julies pregnant, again!"

Alien, here's a test for you......

That's at minimum 20 people on this thread you are now following. Come back in a weeks time and report how many messages you read were not drivvel and a waste of your time. My bet is 10% will be good, the rest will not be and the same 10% you could have read on here as they post the same info.

I'm glad someone else has said this - never (ever) got the point of them.

I saw a group of teenagers, probably about 5 or 6, and every one of them on mobiles texting other people - why are they not out with the people they're texting / tweeting / facebooking / linkedining / stumbleuponing / flikring / mfiing / b&qing instead??

Hey Scooter, think I'll be joining you on that Grumpy Old Men series!

LOL - some interesting points. :)

I'm not here to endorse or disprove Twitter, just use it don't you know (besides which I haven't got time to do that as I'm way too busy tweeting what I had for breakfast!). ;)

To be fair - just because you feel that the most important thing that happens to you is what time you took a shit and you feel twitter is the best platform for you to publicise that, then you've been watching/listening to too much of that twat Jeremy Clarkson. [snip]...

That. ^^ Excellent post.
