Quite by chance, I noticed that a group of my names sitting on Sedo have had the Whois opt-out removed. Maybe in some drunken stuper i went to the trouble of cancelling the opt-outs (I rather doubt that), but I'm wondering if/what mechanism may actually have done this. Was it the nameserver change perhaps at Sedos' end, opting me back in? Or does Nominet have a default opt-in for Sedo (and on other revenue generating sites)?
I'm not going to dispute the fact that Nominet might be applying the letter of the law here, if it is them doing this, fair enough, I shouldn't be earning about 50p over a 2 year period to make each domain pay towards their upkeep.
I'm just interested to know if there is some automated voodoo going on, and who is doing it!
