...and that difference cannot surely be speed alone ??.

Why not? the people with the fastest systems will always get the majority of the domains.

As for the multiple TAG theory - we are partly talking about the TAGNAMES TAG here and domains registered on that TAG. If anyone is registering domains on other TAGS then moving them to their main TAG it would be spotted in 2 seconds flat.

It pisses me off when I miss domains but also encourages me to tweak my system and try other techniques out. I suggest the people moaning on here do the same :)

You are partly correct except for the fact that you could use other tags to do queries and use a distributed system to notify your main tag that a domain is free and send a request.

The DAC has helped make the domain distributions a bit more even and I suspect Nominet will take steps to reduce the amount of speculative requests in future (think they've already mentioned this)

What a load of old cobblers. Nominet clearly care about keeping things fair, look at the changes they made in the last pre-nom deletion.

Oh they care so much that they have allowed a small number of people to possess large percentage of the best domains. That is caring ?. If you call letting someone die then "caring" for them by "trying" to resusitate them then you have a different view of the word.

If you feel strongly that Nominet is behaving in an unfair manner, why don't you raise your concerns with the PAB?

Domains are sold on a first come first served basis - afaik there are no laws governing how many one person can own?!?

Domains drop and are available to be registered by anyone, if your system isnt quick enough to catch them then I suggest you go and work on it!

Most people on here lose out to Tagnames, Chris Fox etc etc everyday - its the nature of the game.

What changes did they make? Didn't notice any!

Well said Grant.

Please do not post blatant accusations of wrong doings against other catchers here as some of these are registered companies with solicitors!

Admin please point to were I,quote, "blatant" ly ,accused
