Which design do you like better?

Which flyer design?

Christmas one is good (part from typo) - Emphasizes the key points and draws attention.

I would focus on getting the flyers in the clubs, pubs, takeaways, etc (commission prehaps?) and telephone boxes etc.

One random idea that came to my head is if you send the contact details to people phones with bluetooth - if you could set up a pc to ping any nearby phones with 'Edinburgh Taxi's new number alert' + contact details then I can imagine this going in a lot of phones (town centre?)

Oh and also, it might be better to do a credit card shape so it can fit in wallet's.

thanks mate good ideas!

I think more emphasis is needed on the word taxi in all the flyers. At first glance, number one looks like an anti-binge drinking campaign and number two an adult phone line.

Third I think is better but again, doesn't instantly strike me as being a taxi. Near me they give out simple business cards with a memorable number and taxi in big lettering - like Russ said, "KISS" springs to mind :)

On a night out people will generally want taxis to get from home to the city as well, seems there is a lot of emphasis on just getting home. When I'm out with friends (and this is the same for everyone I know) people just ask each other for a taxi number.

Ratboy has the right idea, perhaps you could combine a flyer with getting people to enter it into their phone as 'Taxi Edinburgh'? Focussing on the main points of arrival speed and decent pricing, along with telling people to put it in their phone straight away?

Khalid, I haven't read any of the comments and I have just looked at the 2 flyers and read your original post.

I personally don't like either and think they both look amateur - who designed them for you, or are they ones you done yourself ? whoever done them they look very amateurish - no offence meant at all.

I used to attempt my own designs when I was doing some promotional work on my early websites, and when I realised I wasn't very good at it, I took the plunge and got someone to do it for me. Coincidently when sorting my office out last week to hide some of the kids christmas presents, I found some old flyers I had designed myself in a folder alongside the flyers I had designed professionally - I literally laughed and was shocked at how poor my ones were looking back at them.

If you want to appear like a very professional operation, then your flyers need to look as good as possible, as they are a reflection of your business and company and also the first impression people will get of you, and making that small extra cost will increase your conversion and make you more money in the long run anyway.

Another good thing about using a real designer, is they will have experience of doing this type of thing before, and will also have their own ideas of what will work best - afterall they are a designer by trade.

I just went through my old emails and http://www.rfkprintsolutions.co.uk done some mini flyers for me before for one of my main sites and the design work and overall service was awesome.

I had 5000 double sided full colour mini flyers done for around £130 inc design and delivery - they are business card size and superb quality in thickness and finish. I just looked and they are now £85 for the cards and £25 for a professional design done also, so only £110 in total - bargain ! If you want the email of the guy there who done mine, ping me on MSN

You know how much I believe in this idea of yours from our numerous MSN chats over the last few months. I also know exactly how hard you work at the idea and how much you are determined to make it succeed, hence why I am giving you advice based on my own real experience.

If you are on a really tight budget and trying to save money by doing it yourself, I don't mind paying the design cost for you, as you are doing very well with this idea and are in it for the long haul, and I don't want you to get demotivated because the flyers haven't worked JUST because the design looked amateurish.

Keep doing what your doing mate - you will get there :)

Frank,

Thanks for the comments and offer, your support is much appreciated.

I'll see about getting this done professionally!

Keep an eye on costs though and if the sums dont add up or its a fuzzy 'cross fingers' straight line calc then walk away.

Never forget time is a £ cost as well, and add the time spent doing this so far in...
