Where do you list your domains for sale?

on a market place or own landing page.

If a market place what works best for you.

I did Sedo at buy now to take advantage of 10% commission but just been stung by their MLS system so be careful.

If someone buys through one of their “preferred” registrars commission jumps to 20%! You can’t opt out as well.

I have all my domains parked at Dan because they have the most user-friendly interface and lowest commission

I would rather pay 9% than 20% at Sedo, Unireg, Afternic or Godaddy
What cheaper options are there?

I had 4 buyers in a row drop out after accepting their offers at dan and 1 seller who didn't honour a buy now. After that I just decided to park myself with a simple contact email. I've sold about the same amount of domains overall but with no commission.

@sigh this happens to me on Dan also hence looking for better options and what others have tried and tested.

That’s rarely happened to me at Sedo. Once you get the email saying someone’s accepted your buy now you usually get another shortly after saying Sedo have received payment.

And I’m not a fan of Sedo

When I complained about it they tried to give me some explanation about how it doesn't happen at sedo because everyone has to pay before they make the offer or some rubbish like that. Basically it seems to happen at dan because either people aren't banned for being timewasters or their verification procedures are not stringent enough. Shame because I liked the clean platform.

That sounds about right
If you have BIN you will not get "timewasters" because the whole sale transaction is initiated by the buyer's payment. Only after the payment is successful you should be notified that you have a buyer and at that point the sale is almost guaranteed.
That should be the same on Dan or Sedo, but I don't use BIN so can't confirm.

Dan makes the process of making an offer extremely simple to the buyer. Too simple.
This streamlined onboarding journey is in theory great, but it also means that some buyers might not have given enough thought and might back out.
If they would require additional info beyond just name and email address, or they would require users to create an account before they can place an offer, that would indeed filter out most timewasters but it would be a friction point for some buyers.
And yes, I had silly offers on Dan that were not honoured, but those were dealt smoothly by Dan staff.

You got your tags wrong. It should be:
<shameless plug> Text here </shameless plug> :)

I used to get a similar behaviour where only some ISP networks would fail DNS resolution when I had my NS created as CNAME

I can't see why anyone would pay to park domains. Just get your own vps for a couple of dollars per month and park your own. I used to run completely free parking at 123parked.com (no monthly fees or commission) and most people still preferred to use Sedo or Dan or their own setups. I closed it down due to lack of interest. It's the old thing - if you want exposure you're going to end up paying commission. However I don't think people buy domains on a 'whim' just because they see it in a list and, selling the same amount without using them, I think the sedos and dans of the world are becoming irrelevant.

The reason is obvious because "just getting a VPS" and doing diy job over a large amount of domains requires time and effort and some technical knowledge... it's not practical.. why waste time doing that when it can be done for you for a tiny fee. Then add in managing offers, lander configurations, payment options, stats etc. Parking is just an easy way to dump your domains and get sales.. it's a common misconception marketplaces drive sales (only b2b lowball reseller really) end users are where the money is and that's why you want to be in total control of your offers.. Sedo, Dan, Go daddy, just want the commission and you still have to do the transfer work for a domain you would have sold anyway!

I have my own VPS and all domains point to a flat page for example: http://brakeout.co.uk/

If your own VPs is the way to go then i will leave my setup as is i think. I just might spice up my landing page better :)

If you have your own ladning page can you share your layouts and design, maybe post a domain you have for sale with your own landing page below.

Me? I don't have a layout at all. Just a banner and an email address I can change when it gets on all the spamlists. I used to have fancy pages - makes no difference. In fact I think it works against you as people know you're a domainer and will either want a billion pounds and be a time waster or so desperate for a sale you'll accept less than a private person. (note that is opinion not borne out by evidence). People don't like domainers - we are 'cybersquatters' to them.
