What's your oldest .co.uk domain?

Sorry to piss on your chip Alex, but interramp.co.uk is also 2nd Aug 1994. ;)

Don't worry, according to Grant's post there are at least 35 domains registered on that date. I'm happy it being one of the oldest, besides one of 35 of over 9 million isn't bad :p To be honest I know it brings no advantage, would just be a nice bonus to find it was one of the original .co.uk's having bought it without realising.

Might be worth checking...
unipalm.co.uk
pipex.co.uk
demon.co.uk
bt.co.uk

Interesting, they were some of the name perms of the founding members of the UK Naming Committee, you'd have thought they would be older.

I think they ran off .com sites initially, bt is 1992 and pipex 1994, I haven't checked the others. As you say though you'd have thought they'd have registered .co.uk's earlier.

You have to know where to tread your feet with todays reporting of early .uk domains, all is not what it seems. From the pre-Nominet (Ukerna) period, I can assure you that 'mhs-relay.ac.uk' existed in early 1994, that I can prove. If you do a whois for mhs-relay.ac.uk at the JA.NET (UKERNA as was) site:

http://www.ja.net/services/whois/lookup.php

...who administer .ac.uk, you'll be told that no such domain exists. However, enter 'http://www.mhs-relay.ac.uk' in your address bar and you'll notice it is very much a live domain. The lesson is not to believe everything that you read in a whois, it tells you nothing unless you do some digging!
