Grant, I take notice of your post regarding an adult site as I know you have a couple in that area. You think that financially/time wise its not worth me following up?

I would go with boxer, bathrooms, showers, wet rooms, tiles, anything bathroom really.

Porn is a crowded tough market, you would have to do something different, kinky to compete, watersports maybe?

What's selling and what's not at the present time? Bathrooms, jet ski's and swimming pools? I would think not. I'm confident all will all be down significantly and will be for a very long time to come.

All my adult site revenues are up significantly this month. Why? I would think its the same as skybsb. More people spending more time at home and less time on expensive toys/renovations.

Have you noticed an increase this month Grant/Skinner?

No Scoot - just not my area. I'm not posh. People who know me know that. I'm just an awkward SOB but I made a conscious decision a while ago not to be in that sector. I'm no prude at all

My Adult Revenues on Affiliates on the big names are down, but up on kinky and niche. I wouldnt say significant (25%+) but certainly slightly up on average, but way up on last month, last month felt like someone had given my bank a bypass.

The traffic is way up tho, I have a few new big sites with exclusive content coming up, so I'm hoping to take advantage of the fact more people are staying home

From my point of view, it's a classy domain that could be branded into a few different types of site and the last thing I would do with it is porn. Having paid a bargain price for it there is room to make a pretty big profit on the domain alone, if you stick porn on it it may harm that price.

Having said that, porn sells and the affiliate commission is better than you will get in virtually every other sector (usually 20% - 60%) but then 30 porn signups may get you the same commission as 1 jetski sale or whatever.

I guess that doesn't help you decide at all

Yep, I'm also up around 25% this month, I guess people are looking for home entertainment rather than going to the boozer these days

And you might get a funky hair salon or fashion house deciding it would make a great brand name... or a record label, maybe... or an advertising agency (just trying to think of sectors where short "funky" brand names are popular - maybe promote it to a naming/branding consultancy for use by their clients?)

I'd offer to double ya pennies n change, and turn it to porn as my client who funds me alot is transfer a wedge to me to pay for other names (they mainly buy adult stuff), so I'd offer on their behalf, but my offer would be time limited if I made one but pretty sure someone would offer you more

I agree with Dales words on it (paraphrased from a few messages), LLLs are subjective to what your buyer will pay, unlike generics which have instant value and searches dependant on the quality.

As you have found, LLL dic word should be mid-high XXXX to an end user, but reseller you back very early-early XXXX, its complex to find what what you can actually use it for. Everything is super expensive or weather dependant. You'd make more if you found a cheaper product to sell, and sell the concept along with it.

I have been offered other LLL dic words as low as 1k so thats my benchmark 1-2k max would be my budget.

You've changed your tune!

It's a great adult name. It's not an instant winner. You will not get people queuing up to type in wet.co.uk. It needs to be severly nourished.

But then that comes back to the whole adult thing. Adult domains do not sell in the UK. UK adult names do not sell in the USA. There is still this strange stigma attached to UK adult domaining.

You're a smart guy, you know your options.

1. flip it
2. build around adult theme but the most you will ever get for it is 18 months rev absolute MAX. (but be prepared for a 12 month best bid as this seems to be the norm, even in dot com adult)
3. keep it and be happy with what it generates.
4. Build a site with feeds for showers, bathrooms, jet ski's or whatever. But given the current climate, i do not think sales will be forthcoming unless you have the best prices out there. Everyone is feeling the pinch and getting very savvy. Want a shower? pop down to B&Q, select your model and then go back home and search for the best price for that model. If you aint got the best price you can forget a sale.

You can build no4 (or park) and hang on in the hope that a company is going to come along and offer you a decent price for the name. So let's look a little closer for an end user sale....

I mean adult as in porn, hardcore, dirty, filthy nasty f*#king photos, videos etc, 100% exclusive content, I told my investor about it while telling them to kick Bank of America in the balls and speed up this wire transfer, and they said they would use it to put a brand of 'watersports' porn on it if the tag was right.
