I have spent last week developing a new domain list site. Please could you review the site for browser compatibility, errors, design and usefulness?
Under compatibility I know javascript (ajax elements) will limit some browsers.

Comments on monetizing would also be of intrest but have a subscription model in the pipeline.

www.dailydomain.co.uk

  • Domain names come from relivetly newly dropped .COM domains cross checked against CO.UK
  • Checked for availablity
  • Live WHOIS check.
  • History check (archive / org) viewable via signup.
  • Estimated value (Thanks to Julian @ http://www.domtastic.co.uk)
  • tobe added this weekend - RSS feed of last x domains

11/04/08 15.04 Update
Ive just altered search to include the unchecked domains (45,000+ and grwoing)

16/04/08 00:43 Update
Finished archive check script, hoverover infomation box and optimised selection to include 3 & 4 char domains first.

Comments please

My Comments bullet pointed:

  • Nice domain
  • Bland but clean design – Could be greatly improved
  • HTML markup is bad - Failed validation, 1343 Errors
  • Estimated values seems high but that's imo
  • Ajax whois is a nice touch
  • Availabilty is spelt Availability
  • Availability Checker in the right sidebar doesn't seem to work
  • Comedy footer :) Must admit I didn't know who Rosie O'Donnell was and wish I didn't look her up.
  • Needs some SEO work
  • Cant find where I need to signup?

Thank you for your full reply, found your comments very helpful.
  • HTML failed x times due mostly for the domain table, guess I should work on that.
  • Cheers for the typo error, corrected.
  • right sidebar checker script broke so I removed, will get this working again, thanks
  • SEO work will be last.
  • The signup model is still in design, when the above gets fixed I will turn the signon/member scripts on.

Ajax was new to me, took a few days of google to learn enough about ajax to implement. Chris helped with an IP problem I has with the whois2 code.
Pleased you like, the outcome im very pleased with, works well.

You're welcome mate. Drop me a PM or post in this thread when you next do a release and I'll take another look.

Created hoverover box which will be apart of member section... overkill or not?

http://www.dailydomain.co.uk/search.php?Domain=&acorn=member

As a sweetener ive allowed the above link to include archive data :) but linkback isnt installed yet (hopefully will be in a day or two)

Should work on all the links but append &acorn=member to the end of a URL. In a week this will be removed.

Comments please

Hoverbox is good but the archive.org info is even better.

When you get the backlinks working it will be awesome :-D

I see you've added RSS feeds since I last looked or did I simply miss it last time?
