Wanted: Domain Appraisal Valuing and negotiating prices for a premium domain

Yes I do agree with everything you say but to establish what he would be happy with he would have to ask what is it worth.
Can't use the car thing because we have glass's guide to car values.

Not disagreeing with you on this it just shows how subjective domain values are.
No simple way to value them.

Agreed with the car guide price etc - that was taken in the wrong context. I meant it more in the way Mark was asking us what something was worth without knowing the full story etc and with having no benchmark also, it is virtually impossible to answer. (ie him being fully aware of the domain in question and the buyer but us not knowing anything)

It has gone full circle now and the only answer is the same as before - it is only 'worth' what he is happy to sell it for, and quite rightly as you say no simple way to value them.

Dare I bring up the Lyrics.co.uk thread / scenario again ? :)

As said by other there are a variety of things to take into consideration which make a singular definitive answer very unlikely, But selling anything should not be down to I want x

You don’t need the full story or the name or initially have a clue as to value? That can come later think how your going to sell and Type of sale...

Type of sale is important if not the most important one so many people seam to ignore ? ( especially brokers and alike ) a few examples partnership you sell the name but retain a % of any future revenue from the site, % of future sale price,(much like covenants etc in potential development land sales) buyback clauses and first refusal, share rights, floatation offers, goods or services, part x etc again all down to your ability to negotiate? Yes if your selling to domainers and certain business they’ll likely try and dismiss them outright but you don’t have to sell to them if others are interested ?

These type bring parties with a lower budgets potentialy widening the appeal, Bonus of more buyers to the table making a higher end value achievable? If you think I want x and that’s it you ostracise a potential market straight away and eliminate future revenue potential?
