I'm just putting together the finishing stats for all the domains in the UK rights list for the upcoming Nominet release at end of June/beginning of July.
As this cost a lot of money to get the stats and took a few days to produce I am selling the list for £35. It is not part of ukdroplists as the format is different and I am not making a searchable UI when people are just going to download the complete list anyway.

Currently it consists of the 3,076,649 upcoming uk domains with following information.
Domain
Domain that has the rights (co.uk, org, me etc)
Registered date of ROR domain
Keywords
CPC
Average Monthly Searches
Dictionary word or not
Registration checked in com, net, org, us, info, biz
Other info (has a hyphen, has a number, length)

As the list reduces each week at nominet I'll update and send the update to people who've bought it.
The file is in CSV format

If you are interested send me an email robert(at)emailmalta.com with your paypal email address and I'll send you an invoice.
You can PM any questions.

Thanks - could people please send an email with your paypal email as I have now had a couple of requests here and I may end up missing people updates? Also 99% of the time people use a different paypal email address to their actual emails and without specific details I end up not knowing where payments have come from :p

To all hosted chasing customers Nominet have said they won't release information about *how* the drop will be done until 10th May so until then I do not know how it will work - there is no point asking me until then. They have said they don't know themselves yet what they're doing. I have pleaded with them not to use the DAC/EPP and to do it by some kind of lottery to avoid the handful of tags that seem to magically catch everything scooping up the lot. You should contact nominet ([email protected]) and request the same to give all tagholders an equal chance.

Nominet haven't updated the list for 2 weeks. I get the impression that they don't know what they are going to do as their emails keep saying everything will depend on how many registrars sign up and how many they think they will register etc. I'm sure they can mess it up somehow though :p

I'd urge all tag holders to email Nominet and ask them to implement a fairer system. I suggested to them that all signed up tag holders for the UK release submit a list of domains they would like to register, and Nominet generate results based upon a lottery system. None of this DAC/EPP nonsense.

Even their signup section is rubbish. Once you sign up you can still sign up so you don't know if it's even gone through without emailing to confirm. Hey nominet.... I suggest a field in the database of users called 'signed_up'. Set it to 1 when registrars have done so :)

Ironically, DAC and EPP is by far the fairest system in this scenario because there's going to be so many decent names dropping, even those who are using multiple memberships will struggle to strategise their way to success with this one.

The people having the most success are polling for a single name at a time, so imagine the frustration of loading insurance.uk and watching all the other great names drop while you wait for that to drop at 23.30 by which time everyone else has filled their boots and is on your name.

There is no magic required to understand what mummynet would do for .uk rights. They will create a special epp port for this, bundle the names, let the registrars try to catch it. So for the red meat names like 2 or 3 letters usual suspects will scavenge all of them.

Mummynet does not care about domain name catchers contrary they think us as pests. Check their web twitter and actions you will see a wannabe cyber security firm than a register.

It does not feasible to invest in this .uk right scheme in my opinion.

I would have thought the fairest way would be for all tags to email a list of domains they want. More than one request for a domain - lottery. Only request - it's yours. No DAC and no EPP needed.

That benefits the lazy, you could also easily write a bot that will register thousands of fake interested parties. EPP and DAC will give the people that have been at this a long time and rarely sample success a real chance to win :)

Either that or auction the names with proceeds going to charity, favours those with deep pockets and not really practical at such short notice.

That would be hugely annoying, but from a recent Nominet interview, they suggested domains would be grouped into 30 minute slots and released during working hours only; presumably the reason why they want to space it over 5 days. If they decide upon the DAC/EPP method, at least it's looking like it won't be a 24 hour drop period.

It would still force people to choose. This won't be your normal, one great name drop, it's a strategic nightmare, a real chess game.

Obviously it would only apply to tagholders so wouldn't be thousands of interested parties.

Also, don't assume that the exploit will work, if that was the case, you'ld level the playing field greatly unless you think/know that's there's also cheating happening?

Ah that makes it even less attractive to me, there's tags that are nothing more than fronts so that benefits the cheats!

I'm not really understanding you Sean.

I'm saying that all tagholders email a list to nominet. Yes there are a few multitaggers (and don't forget to report known multitaggers to nominet ;)) but highly sought after domains are going to be requested by so many tags that the few % odds increase gain outweighs the disadvantages. Some tagholders don't even use DAC/EPP so this would give them a chance as well. Being attractive to *you* is not the theme that nominet try to portray - they claim they want people to have an equal (or better) chance. Less chance is better than no chance.

I guess it comes down to which costs Nominet the least amount of money to implement; as all desirable domains are going to be registered no matter what system they use.
