Is that what a lot of people on here are doing, going through the list of .co.uk domains where owners stand to lose out to another lesser extension and trying to buy them before people find out about the .uk ?
I'm sure some people may, just like there were those who went after trademarks to try and get an edge in the short domain release... All very speculative, since it relies on both .uk going ahead AND the release mechanism staying the same, but perhaps the risk/reward ratio looks acceptable to some.
For some that I've bought or watched others buy, you're looking at multiplying your money by 10 - 20 if it goes ahead under v2. That looks like an acceptable bet to me, given the stakes are £500 - £2000 and the time invested is next to nothing.
Plus .uk actually becoming popular.
If a lot of warehousing occurs, it may never take off.
You don't have to carry the bet all the way through though. If you think it will launch and under v2 but then fail to take off, you can sell out at a profit in the launch month.
