Thing is you don't need a working protoype to get on, so just tell the researchers for the dragons den that you have a "hover board" and uses zero energy. They don't have a clue and bingo you'll be on the show. If anyone asks how it works just tell them it's a secret.

LOL!

it happened last year, with regards a guy who brought his egg pod on. He said it could boil an egg without water by putting it in a pod.

He dropped 2 eggs, the others failed to cook right then ran out of eggs and he still walked away with an investment.

Well I'm going to apply anyway, see how far I can get. Put my name on the application as Dr E Brown, I bet the researchers don't get the link to "back to the future" I'd pee myself if I can get on.:p

So who do you think will win this 'Jones' competition?

My money is on the helicopter guy.

yep same here,

why are they keeping him quite and not showing him, he made a fair bit already. Guess more entertaining to watch some monkeys try to run a business

Yeah, I think they are promoting the 'goof' factor given it's yet another reality show. He's quiet I think because he's just doing the business as it were, without all the histrionics. I think he should have negotiated the exclusivity with China a little harder without input from PJ, but I still think he's the winner.

He is a five-knuckle shuffler that one.

tycoon

No its not just you

The whole prtogramme is just such an obviuos pathetic copy of Dragons den and the apprentice but without any charisma

As for the student newsletter, ha ha ha

honestly what rubbish, i wish i could go on there and maybe a few guys from entrepreneurforum.co.uk

did you know the newletter guy was voted into the top 5 young entrepreneurs in the UK, please...

hes rubbish, what person sets up a newsletter for schools.

Problems with the idea:

1) Teachers spend all there time trying to teach, not have kids reading through magazines
2)What school would provide glossy magazines to there students when school is a place of learning
3) what self respecting businessman would attempt to go into a market (on there own, pritty much) that they have no background experience in.
4)(i heard they said peirce morgan was starting up a similar newspaper, why would you compete :S
5) the newspaper / magazine was an A3 Peice of paper folded in half, the school year 7's make these for a class project
6) what student would actually read about 'at the time' the prime minister tony blair
7)This 17 year old kid changed his mind half way through, from a kids newspaper to a glossy magazine, and hired someone else to write the magazine and someone else to supply pictures, so in effect he was doing nothing, and by the time he paid peter jones 50% (i heard earlier in this thread) and the picture supplier 25% (i heard he wanted on the TV Show) and paying all the costings, he would probs be making slim-nothing. AND the fact that there giving away a percentage (i think its 25%) of the winning business to a competition winner at the end of the show, this guys in debt pretty much
8) He also states this on the website here

It will summarise stories in a way that will mean they are interesting to teenagers – unlike the full-blown articles you get in other newspapers.

I'm 17 and is he tryin to imply that were all dumb and can't read newspapers and we need them in bright colourful articles, i think the newspapers like the sun try to make the words as less complicated as posible for the younger readers

How he come about the idea:
I’m a teenager myself and at the school I used to attend, there were no newspapers to read.
To name a few: The sun, the mirror, the independent, daily news ETC ETC

I think it’s a great way for advertisers to advertise to teenagers and it’s a new avenue for them.
Its not a new avenue at all, we've had advertising on tv like alcohol and tabaco banned and now food on TV kids programs and surly there banned in newspapers (teenage targeted ones) and whats left to advertise to the under 18, not too much, and schools won't allow over 18 violent games such as GTA etc, so there not interested.

I took a year off school for this opportunity, and if it takes off, I’ll never go back.
please go back

I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur. When I was 11, I got a paper round.
Thats not being an entrepreneur thats called a job

Tom's business was closed down in show 2
Thank god

I want the glamour model to win obv, and without being bias towards her, she may have the business with the most potential as she is supplying a product (i think its real hair) which her nearest competitor is supply for 250+ GBP and shes selling for less than 170GBP

But still all the ideas are rubbish

like I said earlier matt, the way it's broken down to get on the show, you and your mates wouldn't have wanted to get on there..

For example if like I suspect you and your mates have a couple of good ideas. Would you give up 50% of your business to get on that show, for an investment of around £20,000 start up.

The way your business is split is,

25% Peter Jones Group,
50% The entrepreneur or business creator
25% phone in price for ITV's competitions.

Anyone with any real idea would avoid it like the plague. I can guarantee you none of them 5 were first choices for Peter Jones.

same with dragons den, if you had an idea you thought was that great you'd put your gran on the game rather than go on that show and share your business.

I think if you have gone to Peter with that business idea, he'd have put your gran on the show. Although my Gran is so good lucking she wouldn't have split her equity.

I'd like to have seen him issue her with her targets for the week.

4)(i heard they said peirce morgan was starting up a similar newspaper, why would you compete :S

Piers Morgan has'nt just started a 'kids' newspaper, its been going since at least August / September last year. I think its aimed at slightly younger audience though http://www.firstnews.co.uk/

The idea was'nt in my opinion a complete dud, just that idiot behind the idea, i'm amazed he's actually been to school, let alone won an entrepeneur competition!
