I'm thinking about buying a domain name - did a little research and in Google the local exact shows as 10k per month. It is the name of a product (not brand) with a related suffix which could easily be part of the product search.

If I search on Google there are lots of advertisers using this keyword as their ad title, plus lots of organic listings (home pages) have this as main or first keyword in title tag.

The concern is that searching for the keyword in Google Trends UK shows 'Your terms - keywords - do not have enough search volume to show graphs'

Does this mean adwords is wrong, trends is wrong - both could be wrong?

Any other resources you would use to try and narrow this down and see if there is a market?

Ok - tried this. Not quite sure what I'm looking at. I am seeing the average search is '28' and fluctuates between 20-90 (is quite a seasonal product).

The Rising Searches section says 'Breakout'

At least it shows people are searching for this keyword (?) but is this good?

If you're looking at a single keyword or phrase the scale is relevant only to that keyword - 100 represents the peak for that keyword or phrase, and 0 the trough.

What you can now do is add another keyword, ideally one you have some concrete data for (either from a site of your own, Google Adwords keyword tool, or somewhere else) then compare the scales.

Hope this helps, we use it all the time to look at trends, relative potential for different terms, etc.
