You've convinced me J2

Just been onto the bank to up my limit to £5000, should be ok on 10 mins

Right so what do I do?

I buy 830ish half decent domain names for £5000 and that'll see me right for life at return £20000 a year.

I like it, I don't beleive it, but I LIKE IT

Tell me about this overture thing - I don't know who to use it

Alex

Big can of worms this, OK so it's not as simple as my post would indicate.

You don't just go off and register half decent domains, there needs to be some indication of traffic. Hence building that list of 830ish domains takes time and a lot of research.

People use the Overture tool as a sign of traffic (overture w/ext), this shows that people are looking for the domain in search engines, or typing the domain into search engines....it's not a sure fire way of saying, this domain certainly has traffic...but there is a small amount of colleration between overture and traffic. Other things to look out for are link pop etc.

Type in traffic has to be the highest value of traffic, it doesn't depend on links from other sites, search engines etc, with Typo's, so long as the site is a typo of remains up/popular, it should always receive traffic (Of varying levels).

I certainly wouldn't reccomend you go off and register 840 domains from the top of your head or just looking though a list. There are many factors to consider.

was asking where the URL was, refreshed page, thanks

I'll raise yer:

Count Search Term
622 ballykissangel

My personal favorite programme ;-)

Yours is way, way ahead of ballykissangel

type ballykissangel.co.uk into the box and it will return 0

type lyrics.co.uk into the box and you get 290

names that get results with the extension typed in are the winners and 290 is a very high score.

Searches done in August 2005
Count Search Term
8497 catherine tate

This could go on all day and Im leaving myself open to all kinds of abuse from the 'old guard' ;-)

They are only search terms, not actual domains (Hence overture with extention - meaning "domainname.extension")

ronniebarker.co.uk - 0

ballykissangel.co.uk - 0

I'll raise both of your 0's with a "464608 ebay.co.uk"

No suggestions for acheapflight.co.uk.

oh bollocks, so my punt on www.ballykissangel.co.uk was a waste. Just have to develop it for my love of sunday nights and the bally. Not forgetting Monach of the Glen.

Humm, wonder if thats available...

ok

let me get this straight

If a single word like lyrics get an overture of over 200 and it's free to reg... it's a good bet? and I should be regging them yes?

Please advise asap before I loose my money.

I've found a nice amount with 200+ and available to reg

No, it has to be listed in overture WITH the .co.uk extension.

For example, try "maps.co.uk" on the Overture tool, and you'll see that even with the .co.uk on the end Overture still shows results. Same for "lyrics.co.uk" and other top domains.

I think I get it

you're checking for number of searches for a website that doen't exist yet?

So in August 290 searches were completed for lyrics.co.uk even though the name, supposidly, wasn't regged till 30 September
