Any thoughts on this being a brandable name? I was thinking along the line of a cleaning product/company. What do you guys think - could it be worth a quid or two. Read it backwards : sodit

My view is all you can do with a potentially brandable name is hold and hope. It is a bit of a long shot for non-dictionary names, and isn't something I attempt. If you think about the number of potential brands out there, you will need to get pretty lucky.

Rgds

Reading it backwards make no difference, and why would "sod it" be relevant, and why for a product/cleaning company?

These are free to reg and wold be equally as brandable as tidos.co.uk:

ridos.co.uk
nidos.co.uk
cidos.co.uk
hidos.co.uk
bidos.co.uk

There are many better words that could be made up as a brandable that would look and sound a lot better.

yep I agree with Systreg. If your going to concentrate on Brandables then you have to find something that makes it stand-out. That could be through Humour, WordArt,(better described as Letter Art) Double Play, (always a good one) and the many other elements, associations and enhancements. The more you can bring together the better

Just being random in your thinking and registrations wont work. The reversal that you choose to point out actually works against it from a Corporate usage perspective

Brandables and .co.uk don't go together that well yet I'm afraid. I've sold quite a few the past few months in .com but no bites in better co.uk ones. I've decided I will give up asking appraisals for brandables now as I know what to expect lol. As others have said it's a waiting game I'm afraid.

And it's a long-long-long wait. I'm with you DaveP. Brandables as a .co.uk investment are a total waste of time and money. Blimey, lets face it even good generics struggle.

There is space in .com if you want to put in the time and effort. Hours and hours of work.(mostly enjoyable - if your of the mindset)

Work with all the sources to hand - (and most have nothing to do with domains - I'd say 90%) then apply what you know and understand about domains - Simples.

PS - and yes, finding a very old domain reg list of mine (mostly 10 to 13 years ago)

Simplysausage/s.com where part of my early forays - oh the shame of it..:-( and some more
eb3.co.uk was playing with the required www. prefix
FuckKnows.com (and hyphenated) Very apt for me as a domain newbie, at the time
Global-positioning-system/s.co.uk ( As if I had something worthwhile to add)
HatsOn - (thought I Was being clever with the then required www. input -W.hatsOn get-it, took everything including hyphenated)
insidetouch (almost sounds pornographic today)
locatingdevices.com (did somebody lose something back then)
Screenfingers.com (and all its variants) oh man that's painful. (Later I did get to focus on touchscreen products which proved fruitful)
smartattributes.com best forgotton
SmartSucks.com (I was trying to play both sides of so-called Smart-technology back then - No it wasn't meant to be porno)

I could go on and on
