This domain just happened to catch my eye.

Never bought a .me domain before but as all the others were bought in every extension so though I would take a chance this one as they are only a few quid to buy.

If its not worth anything I will just add it tom my collection of other domains and will not bother to develop it.

Regards

Gav

The issue with it is that it is very general, in a non-prime extension, and therefore appeal to domainers is limited, so it's difficult to resell unless someone is putting significant value behind the term ticketline.

ticketline.co.uk is a large concert ticket seller in the UK, brand of Piccadilly Box Office I believe

OK, so if they have a UK trademark on the term, this makes it even less valuable as you won't be able to use it for the obvious.

Yes, I believe so on IPO it's interesting to see that the mark they have registered is actually 'PICCADILLY TicketLine' and it looks like someones used MS Paint to write 'PICCADILLY' on the logo they display on their site. Possibly a refused mark for just 'Ticketline'?

Hi Guys

Thanks so much for your thoughts and comments.

I have just checked out some of the other extensions and I see an american firm has bought a few to redirect to his ticket site.

If there is no trademark on ticketline do you think it would be worth developing a minisite.

The problem with a domain like this is that it is only suitable for a large ticket operation that wants to spend a lot of money developing a brand. If you are going to try and develop your own profitable ticket site, you are better off concentrating on a ticket niche, e.g. Take That Concert Tickets, where you will have a better chance of making a sale. You can still use the domain to develop a site with niche-targeted pages, it's a nice sounding domain, but the domain itself won't be aiding your SEO efforts.

Thanks accelerator

Yes I like the domain it is one I think that most people could easily remember.

I think that I am going to build a mini site and add lots of ticket companies that I am a affiliate for, to the page.

Thanks Again for your comments

OK, but check the UK Trademark situation first. If there are trademarks on ticketline it's going to be a non-starter for use as a UK-focused site and you will have to pick a different international market where there aren't any existing intellectual property rights.

Hi Accelerator

How do I go about checking a trademark ect.

I have followed a few links to the us patent office ect but cannot see any trademark on the word in the uk.

Not quite sure how to find out.

Hope you can give me some advice where to look

Thanks

Gav

Nearly got mini site finished so just trying to find out before I hit the go live button

Yes, that's the right place to search for UK trademarks.

I see what you're saying in that no-one has a pure trademark on the term "ticketline", so maybe that could work in your favour, but I'm no trademark lawyer. You would have to find out whether someone has attempted to reg ticketline in the past, but I'm not sure how you could do that. There isn't any rejected application showing to me. If you were going to put serious investment into the domain, you could always attempt a trademark registration on ticketline yourself, and that would clarify matters.

For all your help and advice, I really appreciate it.

Look to me as though they have tried to be crafty and put people off putting the tm mark sign just next to ticketline rather than PICCADILLY TicketLine which they have the registered trademark for.

I think that any large firm like that would out any doubt would have registered ticketline if they could for what it would have cost them.

Im not going to splash out loads of money to try and trademark myself as it is just another mini site to add to my collection.

I think that I am going to launch my minisite that is nearly finished.

Thanks again

Gav

This site has now been active for just over 2 weeks.

It is just a minisite that I used to advertise some of the ticket company affiliates.

I am not a web designer by no means and this is just a basic site which i have built with my very basic skills. It only took about 4 hours to complete from start to finish.

having a clue about coding ect so just use very basic tables with a website company.

I know the logo needs to be changed but apart from that I think it does the job rather than just parking it up at whypark.

The only reason I made a mini site is because I really like the domain www, ticketline,me
