Just got this from sedo:

With the Olympics coming to an end this past weekend – congratulations to the United States, China, and Russia for top-three medal counts!

Well the IOC (and wikipedia! and most of the rest of the world) base their medal table on GOLDS won - so that puts GB in place of Russia - bit of a publicity og there - writing to UK domainers and belittling our achievements! humbug

Did the Russians win more medals but we won more golds?

Think the Americans measure success in terms of total medals won rather than number of golds.

Stephen.

The BBC said they can use either total medals or golds - they went with golds from the start even though we didn't get any for a couple of days...we were way down until we started winning.

I don't even know what that analysis is looking at? Are they saying that 8th place in the FINAL of an event is coming last?

Would you like to explain that, preferable with supporting evidence rather than gossip and rumour

Jeez, talk about jumping down somebodies throat. No body gave any "gossip and rumour" - actually!

Idiot.

Idiot.

A couple of points

1)I wasn't asking you, was I? If someone, anyone, is going to make derogatory comments about another country's achievements then what is the problem with asking for the evidence to support this?

2)There is no need for you to be insulting, it isn't big, it isn't clever and it doesn't have a place here

No problem - here is just one example from the BBC:

Thanks for that, see it wasn't that difficult was it? Shame you didn't think to do that in the first place.
I actually watched that fight and agree with the article, IMHO the other guy should have won easily but that's probably why I, and the guy who wrote the article, are not judges.
I would like to believe that all judges/referees are impartial and error-free but realise that that will never be the case.

maybe sedo felt they did their bit with that 'suspect' german cyclist in team gb
and his admittance of 'cheating' quickly brushed under carpet
LOL
