Teens.co.uk - Does my Domain Sound like a Porn Site?

Thinking about it, while I do think that it's silly that such names are automatically deemed to be porn related, it's not a bad point to say that this thread doesn't help. In your shoes, I would definitely develop it as a moderated gossip and news site and possibly drop the forum aspect, at least until the site has an identity and is popular. It would be better, now that you've had feedback, to get this thread deleted else the domain name itself will already be linked to the word porn!

I agree it's not the domain but the theme of the post and title.

Yes I was amazed by the sh t not being deleted. It was starred out on *************.

It was only the other week a moderator was posting looking to discuss a not to mention subject.

I'm all for action but when you discuss things in such a public way the real scum bags who find this ok feel like they belong.

I'm all for people discussing things but maybe after they have written about what they have done to either stop something or indeed start something then they can tell us this and it can be mooted.

Can you point me to that thread and I will take a look.

Thanks
Stephen.

Caz, Sometimes its best to call a Spade-a-spade.

If something offends you, shout-out, a bit of a delay to your post with some added reasoning (thinking time) is better than staying silent.

We all seem to be able to put words down when it's a TradeMark or bad domain issue- Yet we'll only have a chance of keeping Acorn as a forum with a consensus if you can feel comfortable saying what you think things go beyond a Mark (If it's important enough)

I'd be willing to walk away from any forum where If I thought the control or standards weren't good enough. But you can't save-up your judgements if you want to influence its standards

Here Stephen. Do the mods get/see post reports or just admin? :)

Yes we do get emails. Not always possible to act as I know some of us also work etc. Really important that users continue to report issues. I deleted the thread you linked to above.

How much did you pay for it ?

"Teens" a period between thirteen and nineteen.

I think it's a fantastic name with unlimited potential.

The big problem with the internet at the moment is shown if you type girls dot co dot uk into your address bar and see what sedo are playing at.

Well I tried to view this thread at work today and it was blocked by the firewall as being adult theme. That probably answers the question about viability of setting up a legitimate site. I don't think our firewall is particular sensitive.

Unlike this thread though his site probably won't have the word 'Porn' in the title. ;)

Re the domain/site I think it will be hard to target 'teens'. There is a big gap between 13 & 19 year olds. Even the gap between 13 and 16 is huge and a completely different demographic.

I think you should use the site to create a porn site, I think the domain name fits this type of site better. I can't really see teenagers using a site called teens, and anyone searching for the keywords with the word 'teens' in, is more than likely searching for porn.

I would not advise you make it into a porn site. I mean, does the internet really need another porn site? Specially one that specialises in teen pornography? Please remember that teens can be anything from 13 years old to 19. Don’t see anything wrong with the name myself as a teens magazine. also don’t see the problem with a forum as long as its moderated. IMO it’s a really good name and wish you the best of luck with it. Don’t let others impose their skewed understanding of a perfectly innocent name.

Yes it sounds like a porn site and Yes I would turn it into a porn site.

Reason for saying this is solely from a business point of view... Why spend a lot of time in putting up content and moderating the forum or comments on the articles you will be putting up when you can make good money with little work.

I know a lot of people on this forum dislike anything related to sex but from my point of view a porn site is the way to go.

By the way.. By starting this thread you sort of put yourself into the porn niche anyway..

Google: teens.co.uk porn or Google: teens uk porn

Good luck with whatever you do with the domain, its a very nice name to have.
