Hi all

I started this site about 18 months ago in anticipation of losing my job. That didn't actually happen but I've kept it ticking over on a very casual basis since. Web orders have amounted to around £4500 in the past year plus some profitable corporate events (including Harrods!) I spend a max of £20 per month on Google adwords and a couple of other internet ads but I haven't really made the time or effort to try linking into lots of different sites or marketing the company properly.

I've recently been lucky enough to have been offered a consultancy role with a big American company and I simply wont have the time even to maintain what I'm doing.

My question is am I best trying to sell the domain name by itself or do you guys (and girls!) think I am best trying to sell it as a going conern? As I am new to this could you give me any idea of a realistic price I should ask and where the best place to sell is... or should I just consider just parking the domain and selling it in a few years?

Many thanks for any thoughts or advice
John Hunt

Hi John

I like your site, nice work!

If it was me i'd look to sell as a going concern, although the domain name is catchy and could lend itself to a number of uses, i could see some 'trendy' calling themselves splat!

Value wise, no idea i'm afraid.

It's a great idea and a nice site, personally I would sell it as a going concern. The domain on its own is nice but may be a little too 'brandable' to be worth a huge amount, unless you are lucky and find a millionaire who is setting up a company call splat.

Good luck with it, Grant

I'm presuming the £4,500 is sales/turnover which is still very good (not profit). But still you are going to get nothing like that sort of revenue from parking, so your options have just been reduced by one!

Keep going in your spare time - maybe add some adwords or other affiliate links so you can actually make some money without having to do the work, and/or partner with someone who wants that sort of work.

It would be a shame if you reverted to parking after all your hard work.
