The site looks very good, professional and clean... Love the template, I may use it myself. I would change three things at this stage:

1. Reduce the time it takes to scroll through the news articles... I couldn't keep up with them...
2. Brand your site with a good, catchy logo - It looks far to plain with simple text.
3. Consider changing the tag line... Sounds a little disjointed - Something like "You are the social network" or similar...

Looks good though, display perfectly in IE8.

Thanks for those comments. I have found a template and have stuck really with that! I have a few more sites on differing themes.

First impression is that the site seems to have a whole lot of content all over the place and not that its a bad idea, its just that people would spend more time on the page looking for something which catches their interest. So if you are looking for guide visitors in any specific direction I would consider minimizing the look of the site. Overall it looks great, but I would consider using a logo for the top portion of your site which would add some color because you want visitors to remember the name of the site. SocialNetwork is very general, and thats not a bad thing whatsoever, its just that a lot of social networks now have ridiculous names which help people remember them. So i would encourage you to use a logo to help people to remember.
