Hi, Not sure if this is the right section to post this in, so please move it if not.

I've registered a .so domain and I'm looking to develop it as an affiliate site.

The domain is breakdowncover .so

With the right content and effort, would this rank?

What are everyone's opinions of .so domains?

if you breakdown in somalia you got a few more worries than just getting your car restarted

this domain will rank in somalia, thats it
and it probably means nothing over there as a term
the domain is worthless imho
any time spent developing will be wasted imho

The breakdown product only covers Uk and Europe lol.... So just outside!

If I'm looking to target UK traffic, my strong preference is the .co.uk.

Absolute and utter waste of money, and I'd strongly advise against throwing more away on building anything on it.

Best bet is to try and sell the name on to some unsuspecting "domain investor" imo.

Most of the marketing is going to be by email.... So I s'pose its ok for that.

Yep. That's the reality of it. I just wish newbies would read and search here more before parting with cash for nothing.

It's probably worth remembering that Somalia is one of the least stable countries in the world both politically and financially, possibly more so than Libya, and look what has been happening to their domains.

Also with these extensions there's nothing that says that they won't "repatriate" the names later down the line, or hike prices to something stupid for non Somalian nationals.

They are just .so worthless!

Ty's quite right, in that not only are they useless as domains, but you're liable to have them taken off you at any time without warning or compensation of any kind.
