Slightly Worrying...

So to sum up this thread >

A giant asteroid made out of horse meat and potentially containing lamb in it is going to hit Russia which the result will be that instead of raining cats and dogs it will be raining ponies and donkeys !

Maybe we should actually be a little worried.

Anyone who's seen Armageddon knows a load of little ones will hit first

I think you'll find a lot of Armageddon's storyline actually comes from the Bible - Revelation 8:7 - 8:11 (and a lot of other prophecies too). Trumpet 1 'Hail and fire' causes massive destruction to the earth first and then this rain of fire is followed by what appears to be one asteroid, and probably two (Trumpet's 2 & 3) that will hit the sea and the land. I'm not saying that's happening now - this is just an isolated hit - just pointing out the similarity between the movie and what the Bible describes will happen at the end of this age.

don't forget the 'end of world' stories that were around before the bible's version. You can also find creation stories, great flood stories, and much more that the bible made popular.

If it's all in the bible then we have nothing to worry about because the bible is just fiction.

wow 950 people injured upto now, good job it landed in a lake as oppose to a main street.

This is probably the most filmed disaster ever given that in Russia nearly all vehicles are fitted with a dash cam for insurance purposes.

The Biggie this evening should be viewable in the Southern Sky (Yep face Due South) from around 7:30 pm until around about 10:00 pm Viewable with a reasonable pair of binoculars (providing it's clear enough) The Asteroid is approaching from underneath the planet from our Northern perspective so will appear to rise from the Southern Horizon until it reaches around 80 degrees above the Horizon - after that it's pretty much moved too far away.

You'll know if your looking at the right object because that amount of movement in around two and half hours is pretty substantial in relation to the night sky

My faith is based upon the historical accuracy of the Bible, the person of Christ and the detailed accounts of His life, death and resurrection - including the many prophecies fulfilled by Jesus - prophecies that we know were written centuries before his birth and could not have been fulfilled by chance. So when I read the prophecies in the Bible I have an assurance that they are true and will be fulfilled some time in the future as depicted. I have seen and read some of the stories you refer to - the Babylonian version of the flood is certainly similar to the Bible's version - and it certainly could be derived from the Bible's version. As I said I was only pointing out the similarity between the Armageddon film (which someone mentioned) and the Bible, and one meteorite doesn't mean that the first trumpet of Revelation has been blown. If it starts raining meteorites one day in the future then that might be an indicator. Better not say too much more - mentioning the Bible on acorn usually stirs up a hornets nest!

I don't understand why - each to our own beliefs - as long as it's never shoved down peoples throats

You know, I live here on the island of Rhodes. We get 300 days of sunshine per year, quite often more. Its officially the sunniest place in Europe. Sunny skies mean clear skies every night with a great view of the stars.

Tonight an asteroid is flying right above us and its FLIPPIN CLOUDY! :(

A bit like Ireland!
