Looking through the "Knew it" thread, which sadly is now closed, it's hard not to come to the conclusion that some people on AD take themselves way too seriously and have little or no sense of humour. So in the spirit of healthy debate may I say:

1. Prof Strange definitely did it.
2. If it wasn't him it was definitely the boyfriend.
3. If it wasn't either of them it was definitely the retired next-door neighbour.
4. If it wasn't any of them it was definitely Prince Philip.
5. If it wasn't Phil the Greek it was definitely Invincible from Acorn Domains.

Cheers,

Ed

Invincible I really do not condone violence but please, if you ever see that smug scumbag again at the very least run over his neck. Make sure you get a large trolley and not those small ones :)

Sounds harsh but he really is one of lifes badduns.

I happened to see Sion Jenkins

another major miscarriage of justice
this guy got framed and lost wife, kids, years of life, job
last time i checked they wouldnt even pay him out even though life destroyed and clearly didn't do it
when you review what happened to this bloke and how the police twisted all the evidence and kept re prosecuting and fighting appeals, those guilty of jailing an innocent man need prosecuting imho
christ knows why he would want to stay in this country

see my post earlier

think of all the most high profile crimes of recent years. they can't find who did it, or frame someone innocent.
in more cases than not
i actually find it more scarey than the thought of the odd wandering lunatic

you need to do your research Caz.
i don't don't how you can come to that conclusion unless all you ever did was listen to soundbites from the press
even the gutterpress accept he didnt do it, after destroying his character for years

what happened to billie jo was hideous. whats also hideous is whoever did it is still at large

I agree with the awful way the police treat people and the miscarriages of justice. But that man well iv already said.

Move on, its been closed for a reason so respect the decision of the forum admin and pick something else contentious to discuss.

It was reported that he was arrogant from the start lording it over questioning police officers and ruining the polices timeline of events with his gibberish answers.

Maybe if he wasn't such an attention seeker the police could have found out the truth.

I'm with you Pred, he only had tiny parts of blood on his clothes and not lots which would have happened if he battered her with a metal bar I believe it was ?

That Barry George, I'm not convinced about him, he had a history of stalking people including celebs but then Jill Dando could have had plenty of enemies ?

The worst set up is the Rachel Nickle murder on Wimbledon green in 1992, Colin Stagg was without a doubt innocent and totally set up, even Rachels boyfriend believed Colin Stagg was guilty because the police convinced him so and later said I don't know why I would have thought it was him ??

Binny > fair enough, I will shut up now ;)

Caz, this is a very brief summary
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Billie-Jo_Jenkins

the guy kept getting pounded and he never gave in, he has lost everything, everything

one of the worst aspects must be for innocent people is that there are still people who slag you off etc. even when you are found not guilty

the birmingham 6 and guildford 4 still get it to this day from ignoramus', they can never escape that

think, for a few minutes what he has gone through
the only thing he's guilty of is he lied on his cv about qualifications
he got hammered in press for that, oh well, must be a killer
again, only makes a few million people guilty in UK, prob far more

missed out on his kids growing up everything and the prison service fighting him every day and prisoners inside. just think about it
i would think the fact he knew he was innocent and had to clear his name is only thing kept him alive
must be read: http://www.innocent.org.uk/cases/sionjenkins/index.html

I agree that was terrible. The police should have all been sacked.

There are so many corrupt police officers out there that at times I bet they sit back and let colleagues do what they like.

Im not a fan of junior officers saying i was just following orders. Mistake like that made again. Sack them all.

the irony with the barry george thing was he had convictions
he used to stalk women, he was a real threat to women and socity, still is
his alibi was he was stalking another woman on same day!
he has learning difficulties though and couldn't have pulled off a hit like on dando, it was a professional job and the police were clueless how to catch the killers, i bet the real assassins couldn't stop laughing when they saw george was getting framed

george should have been and still should have been in a secure unit.
the irony is he's set to get a huge compensation claim. to be fair he has to get something, but he lost no income, was living on tax payers money his whole life

the whole system is screwed
as we have seen in recent days, the prison system and police service needs routing and sorting out
when real culprits get caught, they need to serve the hardest time, with no perks and never be released

This is going to get closed like the other one. I will say that it is is wrong (IMHO) that Sky should be airing an interview with a potential suspect that is 'sub judice' like the 'combover' landlord. The system should prohibit this. Sky were careful over the Huntley affair, but have not been too clever this time. After an arrest, the press should button it.

Having said that, I see no reason why people should not discuss the feelings they have 'in their water' here, just like Graeme did. I also think the prat did it. But I am not a press magnate; however I'm entitled to a ******* comment.

Don't get so uptight.

Discussing something in a particular way is different to defaming someone. You're not entitled to defame on an Internet forum. It isn't the same as making a private comment to someone. If you're not familiar with Godfrey vs Demon, you might like to familiarise yourself.

If someone posted, on here, that they'd seen a photo of you and thought that you must be a pedophile would you mind?
You need to look up the difference between 'defame' and 'opine'. Don't be an ass.

If you think the difference is of some relevance, please elaborate. Perfectly possible to defame someone by posting an opinion on an Internet forum, therefore how is the difference relevant?
Do you REALLY want to parry with me? Think carefully before you reply. To start you off with no dictionary look-ups:

Defame: Make a derogatory statement without recourse.

Opine: Give a personal opinion.

See the subtlety?

The Guildford 4 got an apology, but no officer was ever charged, that was a complete and utter disgrace what happened to them.

With the Jill Dando murder, they tried to pin it on London gangsters at first, I remember watching a programme about the man who they accused and there was a manhunt for him and it was on Crimewatch, they showed a picture of him and then they got a phonecall from him to say they should have used a better picture, they were saying they were tracing the call and would know where he made it from, turns out he walked into a Police station and used the phone in there, even though there was a massive manhunt on for him!

I have no objection to discussing it with you here. Doing so doesn't overly concern me in any kind of way. You telephoned me once, late night, for an hour and we chatted. I didn't object to that so yes, no worries at all.

I'm waiting for you to post a reasoned explanation of why the difference in definition matters here, not copy from online dictionaries. If it's relevant, why didn't you do it two posts ago rather than string it out longer? Please educate me/us with the relevance.
I'm not trying to make this personal.

The basic facts are:

a) I didn't look anything up - my dictionary is in my brain
b) A personal opinion if stated as such carries no legality
c) I know you're reasonable at heart, but this is getting daft

Open apology: I'm sorry for my swearing. I apologise to all and 'invincible' especially. Too much New Year spirit (literally) on my part.

Stop giving Dale such a hard time guys!

Its only a forum! Everyone has different opinions and thats what makes a forum
