Scottish Independence

It is today but historically it was part of Mercia. How far back in history are we allowed to go? What about the Shetland question, will Scotland force it's rule on them?

You can go back as far as you like. If you want to see a return of Mercia, go for it.

Good, at least we've established that there's no difference between Scotland and the West Midlands but that Scotland has much greater autonomy.

No we haven't. We've just established West Midlands is a region of England and you are claiming it was once part of Mercia. It has never been a nation.

Scotland is a nation that forms part of the United Kingdom.

If you genuinely don't see a difference, that's not my problem.

Though the armed forces part isn't a major issue, they wouldn't need nuclear weapons or a massive army to invade oil rich countries as they'd have their own :D

Sadly it is a major issue. The remaining UK, should the scots vote to leave (which is very unlikely), would potentially be under new threats from the fact Scotland would probably not be able to fund adequate protection for its borders. Meaning the UK would end up subsidising the scots, which would be unfair. Some would say 'no change there then'

And not keeping the pound wouldn't be a disaster - plenty other countries managed to change to the Euro, Scotland could change too.

The Euro is a disaster. The problems in the EU have died down recently, but some of the stuff that has happened over the course of the last 2 years or so has highlighted just how lucky we are out of it. Especially the act of EU governments helping themselves to peoples bank accounts to prop up failing banks.

The SNP leader is akin to Nick Griffin as far as i can see. He wants independence at any cost. I can't wait to see his face when he loses in the Autumn.
