I've had an offer of £200 on sedo, so after costs that's £95. Their first bid was £100 so you can imagine my response at the loss.

Should it go for more? I'm thinking it should. They're saying final offer, cheeky buggers, I usually cancel at this point. The thing is if it was a private sale I might take the £200 and make them pay nom fees.

This is my only science domain (I think) and it's quite good for development and I would like £350 on private at the least. Thoughts?

Cheers
Lee

*Quite why sedo want £70... they aint done nothing yet. It always annoys me, I should have directed it to my own page. You don't do traffic Lee - you don't need sedo, use namedrive.

Just food for thought maybe... Not saying it would work but I had similar and we met half way...

Appreciate they said final offer BUT, faced with that, this is what I'd do...

Replying stating similar to your post BUT making it clear that your happy to sell (that's if your are)... Mentioning that it's just the fees involved...

If they really want it, I think they will meet you half way at least...

Good luck...
AE&OE... LOL

Contact them with you email address coded in the messaged, they can then contact you direct, pay £150, thus savign £50 and you gaining £50 - everyone is happy.

Well I dont know anyone who works harder to flog a name then you Lee. Use Namedrive and spend the savings on a nice 'cat of nine tails'.

Aqua

That with the blonde thrown in ? ;)

Sorry Lee... couldn't resist..

Seriously though, their must be a way forward for you...

Any update?

Perhaps I am being blonde, I don't get you. I'm in a mood, idiots like DB get me riled. Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a go, I aint paying sedo and nominet £105 out of £200, sedo aint done nothing and nominet just clear paperwork.

they enabled the person to make you a bid, and possibly attracted them to the name via the search function.

Likewise the bit may not have been forthcoming if it was not via a 'reputable' site :)

No, sorry they aint done nothing. We'll never know if the bid would be forthcoming or not, that's all spurious comment. £111 of a £200 sale goes on costs, they're having a laugh, so no the sale won't be going through sedo. If they want to negotiate and take £20.00 and the sellers pays nom fees then maybe we'll have a deal but £70 they're joking.

Query!

sciencequest.co.uk seems to go to namedrive, but bid via sedo? Was bid via sedo while still parked at sedo or when parked at ND?

If the latter I would argue that its likely someone searched 'science' and placed a bid via sedo, or prefered to go via sedo rather than ND to place a bid.

If the former then they have still provided a system to enable bidding :)

The value added to the transaction by Sedo is debateable, but to say they have done nothing isnt right.

Rob, I redirected the domain last night from sedo to namedrive in the hope the bidder drops sedo and picks up on the change and I will do that with all my domains shortly - I've had enough of sedo, I will no longer park with them, however I will list but even then that aint worth £70 on a £200 sale. I will reiterate, sedo have done nothing, £70, no they're taking the mick.

Two external parties are taking the proverbial just for a bit of bloody paperwork. The sooner we get that nominet fee down the better but than we can always make the purchasing party pay that nine times out of ten, the £70 sedo fee is a bit much on low sales.

Happy Birthday Sedo, you're a rip off.

I've explained to the buyer why giving 55% of a sale to third parties aint what it's about and that he should try again later. Or upon realising the fees they might make a better judgement.

No wonder I don't do sales through sedo. I must be up to £3000 turned down this year by now, in the majority of cases it's because of the sedo fee and no drop down request saying "you pay transfer fee of £30 plus VAT"

Never had that issue, Sedo 'Buyer' TC's state that they pay...

Really? I'm just going by the conversation had with sedo about the transfer fee not being in the £70. I didn't know that, it's not as if they tell you these things.

Lee

Certainly was the case two weeks back when I sold one....

Never even brought up the issue...

http://www.sedo.co.uk/faq/index.php...81&artlang=en&highlight=transfer fee who pays

Should read registrant really, not registrar, as we know TAG changes are only £15 + V...

Above is a link to sedo's page addressing the 'buyer' paying Nominet...

If you put an offer in on a sedo name you will see that you have to agree to (as the buyer) paying the transfer fee...

Thanks for that, £70 is still a lot for a £200 sale. I did have a think but it isn't right, no matter how much I need the money.

Cheers

No worries...

My approach is usually: initial comes in EG: £100....

-------------
Thank you for your offer...
As I'm required to pay comm to sedo £500 counter....
Saying:
The figure quoted is due to the system... I'm happy to negotiate...
Sure we can agree a price somewhere...
Look forward to hearing from you...
---------------

That's on a name I'm happy to churn 'n' burn obviously...

Works well....
