My gut feel is £5-10k without too much problem. For a super fast quick sale i don't think Dave has done too bad for a days work - still DL would have produced £2k+ over its normal auction cycle imho

My thoughts exactly - Great name, great price for buyer, and Dave made £1k to help him top up on Lemsips and Lockets :)

Don't see what the big deal is. Nice alphas but would price it at £500/£750 atm

Very tenuous link Sat and satellite, imho like saying owning mon/co/uk is money/co/uk or lon is london~!?

maybe someone can explain to me what i've missed?

When does anyone ever refer to money as mon, or London as lon?

Satellite on the other hand is referred to as "sat" all over the place including company names, domain names and products. Have a quick Google...

My gut feeling was that it would go to around £800 in auction, so I set a BIN hoping someone would get involved in bidding and then seek to end it early, but Kev went and ended it super early! Guess we'll never know, but I'm happy with my grand, not spent any on lemsips yet, but I have ordered myself one of these babies: http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-professional-silent/

Having worked for ThornEMI group of companies for many years, "Sat" was the familiar term within the "Satellite Broadcasting" industry - I bet almost 80% of people couldn't spell "Satellite" correctly even at their second attempt - It's just one of those words thats not in most peoples "written" vocabulary - I know I've delt with hundreds of Employees that probably still don't know.

I agree with you Invincible - I don't personally envisage any one (Apart from maybe a small- midsized outfit) rebranding under the term. But it is a key term for the industry. to me it is the industry descriptive and a wholesaler/distributor would love to have the term SAT.co.uk on its letterhead, vans etc etc- Or even just as a redirect.

The recent European Judgement is a can of worms for SKY and and its "pricing policies" they have most agreements in place for at least a couple of years- so they won't be panicking too early - But I can guarantee you none of the top-dogs slept last night.

For info I do own a few around half a dozen "Sat" terms - mostly related to foreign services for a UK based audience.

Think this domain has easily got to be worth £1000 considering the price meaningless 3 letter domains go for so nice buy does it get much type in traffic.

The recent European ruling has been quite interesting whilst it appeared this was a good slap in the face to sky and there massive overpricing I'm not quite sure I heard a lawyer this morning saying that copyright laws will stop pubs broadcasting games anyway.
But at least the ruling now means sat enthusiasts like myself can legally go direct to providers and take out a subscription without the need for a middleman.

As the broadcasting rights are up for renewal soon I'm guessing sky will end up buying pan European rights or insisting the prem put in stipulations to European bidders that they voluntary refuse to sell there services outside there territories cuting down options.

PS if you buy the right equipment you only need one dish and receiver you can still view all your favorite sky channels as well as goodies available to are European cousins such as 3pm football which 90% of the time also has English commentary
