Is it worth registering typos?

There's plenty still available, i'm wondering if you guys bother picking them up?

cheers!

What TLD you using ?

"Is it worth registering typos?"

Without a tld those results are a bit pointless.

"Recently I am getting a "serveur unavailable" "

Ah, mon dieu, je suis also getting zee same erurr..., est que un probleme?

he he, couldn't resist

hi all,

sorry for my ignorance, i am learning though!

so, only .com, .net and .org typos are worth registering?

do you search Overture including the domain extension or just the keyword?

cheers!

.co.uk typos are worth registering - the point people are making here is that they are only worth registering if they have an overture result when searching for the term WITH the extension, eg:

"ebya.co.uk"

Has an overture of 88 with the extension - this is a good indication that people will type this into the address bar.

Typos IMO really are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Anyone who hits a parked typo page is instantly going to reenter the correct address when they do not see the page they expect to, regardless of the clicks advertised (even if the correct link is there)

My growing typo portfolio gets around 15% CTR, which means my investments earn x3 their cost in revenue per 2 year period.

OK it ain't 100% but it's worth my while.

One earns £125 a year!

My stats would indicate otherwise.

My findings are:

On average 1:4 people click something (if it's relevant) for generic type domains of different genres (Music, Sports, Cars anything)

On average 1:2 people click something if it's porn.

I agree, my few Google typos perform very well, as people simply hit the Google.co.uk link at the top of the page.

Which nets about $1.56 a click.

Can ever see my hobby taking me down the typo path to be honest.

Not the kind of click-through customers Im looking for ;)

Yeah, guess it depends what type of portfolio your building, I wasn't that keen until you see the type of traffic coming through some names.

It's not a nice looking collection though... ugly miss spelt domains.

all, thanks for your help!

finally, are hyphenated domains worth buying?

for example..

if someone searches for "is this ok" will they ever find "is-this-ok.co.uk"? or are they more likely to find "isthisok.co.uk"?

thanks!

35 posts, not so much a newbie now!!

Only valid if you develop the site, i guess it's common sense that someone would only type in thewebsite.co.uk rather than the-web-site.co.uk.

Search engines do like hypens, type-ins dont.

The more people who decide to take the generic route the better it is for me (Not that all of my domains are typos), there are some people who voice concerns over this practice.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but my bottom line doesn't look too bad for the choices I have made, so i'm not one to complain. :)

I'd agree if the traffic was being redirected to a porn site or somesuch. But parking pages are harmless enough.

Goes a long way towards explaining why domains are your hobby and not your job.

Typos are not everybody's priority. If you have amazing domains you want to develop. Fair enough. But saying " I don't want this traffic..." is like saying "I don't want this check..."
