Rolex?

I have always wanted a Rolex thinking of saving up and buying one, can anyone offer any advice?

Think about what you want from a watch, as there are lots out there :)

Check out stuff like D.Dornblth & Sohn » Intro , can do custom made stuff and go meet the maker with a trip to germany etc can be more pricey than a standard rolex though but least its been in the hands of a watchmaker not just a production line in a factory !

Personally I am liking the wit of Mr Jones Watches at the mo but leagues apart price wise ;)

tz-uk is the best watch forum for UK'ers but can be fun to get membership at times!

Worth a nose around, as if you are buying something to be flash / buy a brand name then rolex can be an obvious choice, but if you are wanting something that is for you and to pass down then its worth the research - however if you get hooked it can be an expensive hobby!

The time! A £2.50 digital off the market will suffice :)

you are being ripped off.... 99p casio Casual jobby!

I'd stay clear of Rolex, I forked out 1000 Baht for one in Pattaya a few years ago. Turns out it only lasted a few weeks. Definately a poor quality watch ;)

you sure it is a "Rolex" and not a load of "Bolex"

"Bolex", don't get me started another weakness next to watches ;-)

I really like TAG watches

Shame i dont have the cash for one lol

Definitely recommend Omega watches too. My Seamaster is the watch I wear most, very chunky and well made. The Speedmaster was actually the watch that went to the moon, apparently Nasa brought back a load of watches from the shops, tested them to see whether they would be suitable and the Omega was the one they chose. I quite fancy an Omega X-33 which is the choice of current astronauts!

On the topic of all of these pricey watches, they can also be very pricey should anything go wrong. I paid 150 pounds to repair my Omega many years ago and have heard of bills in the hundreds for Rolexes - indeed they do require servicing from time to time anyway.

I wear a Speedmaster Professional, it's a lovely watch. Some people aren't keen on the Hesalite crystal as it scratches easily, but then again they polish easily too, so I've never found it to be an issue.

I keep promising myself a Rolex, I've got a thing for watches. How much is a Rolex submariner these days?

I was into watches for quite a few years but finally lost the addiction.

If you like watches sign up for a subscription to iWmagazine.com, it is watch lovers porn ;)

The classic, timelessly-designed Rolex Submariner was always a favourite of mine (especially like the more exclusive 50th anniversary edition with the green bezel) until I heard poor review after poor review from friends and when researching online. They seem to lose so much time and are less robust than they should be. The reputation of Rolex appears to be deteriorating. Have an Omega Seamaster now which I would highly recommend. My next watch would have to be the classic Tag Monaco, with the black face and black croc strap (TAG Heuer Monaco Automatic Watch > WW2110.FC6177 > Swiss Luxury Watches - Fine Men Watches) ... droooool!
