Thats less than I bought it for a few years ago!

Was hoping for a late surge but as always auctions can be unpredictable.

No surprise, summer holidays, key investors go away until September.

Just don't seem to see geos getting much these days. Due to the fact very few have really been monetised perhaps?

Thinking out loud....

Denbighshire Council promote Rhyl via http://www.loverhyl.co.uk/

If they don't want to own Rhyl.co.uk, then who else might want it? An attraction/theme park/caravan park/property developer/other owner? Maybe or they could go with RhylSands.co.uk, RhylPark.co.uk or similar.

An online content publisher could be interested. But they could also brand around a name such as VisitRhyl, RhylTimes or RhylNews.

An affiliate might want Rhyl.co.uk because of the power of an EMD that might also get some direct type-in traffic? Maybe. Or could a good SEO'er get to top of the rankings using a FTR domain like RhylisBrill.co.uk instead?

I think the value in (undeveloped) EMD geo domains is in the type-in traffic.

Your thoughts?

That type-in traffic is a thing of the past. There is a post somewhere here from @Edwin with figures from cambridge.co.uk (and from some of my smaller ones) that showed small figures, and that was some years ago. Then from that small amount, you have to look at the intention of the type in, looking for the council website perhaps?

I stopped using EMDs for my (small) efforts for Geos some years ago, and have done better without them. I'm not saying that a non-EMD is better, just that the advantage is small.

Still wouldn't mind having my local town's however..

When I see 'town' domains, I just think 'directory', and they are old news, so...

I just happened to be browsing online for info about harrogate this morning and found the 'harrogate.co.uk' website which seems ok (not sure if anyone on here owns it), it has a functioning and up to date website which ranks 5th for 'Harrogate' in google. Whereas the number one ranking website for harrogate is 'visitharrogate.co.uk' which is the official tourism website.
