i see the icon for my own post but no one elses? and i cant seem to do anything if i click it anyways?

yeah thats the strange thing there isn;t a rep icon under other people posts only your own - big yourself up!

I see an icon on every post and when I click on it I get a form that I can add comments to and post results.

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong thing the bad post Icon not the reputation icon

How do you rate a post? I can see how to rate a thread but there is no link to rate a post as far as I can see.

You can add Rep to a member for a good post or you can rate a Thread (go to the top of the thread and click the "rate Thread" drop down).

I've never seen this on all posts, when I go to that link I get the following:

paul, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I guess it's a case of giving people the right permissions.

Yep, works now for me, however, unless people read this thread I would guess not too many would notice or understand what the icon is. Might be beter to use 'rate this post' as in the example in message #6 if you're keen for people to use it.
