I have ourlord, havefaith, and thepromise in .co.uk.

Here in the US these types of names would sell for a nice amount to ministries and other large churches/religious organizations. What are your thoughts about value in the UK?

Thanks!

:)

Most churches in the UK who would most benefit from having a domain like thiese don't tend to have the cash (except for the C of E, but they probably wouldn't have the knowledge or desire to go on-line yet!)

yep where a bit backwards here, churches arnt considered big business here :(

Indeed, I own belief which is a nice religious one- now if that was the com it would be massive money, over here the church is not a big spender or cash rich.

Thanks all

I had a feeling that was the case.

If you all are backwards then I'll take backwards any day...its a bit embarassing being in this capitalism-on-steroids country over here.

I got doctrines which seems to be religous related. Not sure if adsense will show up much though.

The problem you're up against is that those with the cash would not pay out lots of money as they would be using the cash thay have for social projects. Most of the active UK churches are either cash strapped or use their funds to help others (which after all is their calling :)) I couldn't see many church treasurers authorising a big payment for a domain when there are so many other things on the list.

There are a few specialist religious music & book sellers, but I'd suspect that most people would either go direct to them (or Amazon) or purchase via their church book stall.

There may be money to be made, but I suspect nowhere near as much as in the US as we've not got to the "phone in your donation and touch the screen for your place in Heaven" stage (fortunately).

What Alex Said!

As a regular churchgoer, I've spoken to the elders in the past about their sites/domains. Most think that a few 100 for a new site etc is OTT, let alone several grand for a domain.

I'd be interested in purchasing several to develop, but there's no way that I would pay, or could afford to pay, what people would expect for a generic .co.uk.

Unfortunately, there's not much money in the religious fields. As previously stated, churches aren't going to want a generic domain when they could spend the money on their goals. And to be honest, most churches are interested in their immediate surroundings, as that's where they can do the most.

As a regular visitor to America I can see why religious domain names sell so well.

You cant turn over the tv without "grow your own magic jesus tree" or "1800-speak-to-god"

There is alot of cashing in on faith over there. Its not quite like that over here in the UK yet!
