I'm a member of the Wine Society and enjoy their Rioja Crianza at around £7 a bottle... it's good stuff! :)

A friend is a member to,
excellent choice of wines and very good prices
you can buy blind and still be assured of a good drop. At first i thought it sounded a bit posh,
but now I recon it’s a co-op for Winos ;) , am i right in thinking each member owns a share?

James- I love Faustino I i spent 5 months in Andalucía and found it one of the best wines over there

Talking of Champagne i got a enquiry through from a store burst site last month heres what it said:

DO YOU CARRY THE BELOW ITEM(S)? IF YOU DO KINDLY GET ME THE TOTAL
COST PLUS THE SHIPPING COST VIA UPS OVERNIGHT,ALSO LET ME KNOW THE
ACCEPTABLE CREDIT CARD I.E. VISA OR MASTER FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE
ORDER.

Louis Roederer Cristal 2002 vintage

Bottle Size: 750ml---------------24 bottles

NOTE: KINDLY LET ME KNOW IF IT IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE IN STOCK TO SUPPLY.

As you can imagine at a price of £150 a bottle I hurriedly found it on the site and placed it as a feature and emailed the person back,
Alas I have not seen a £3600 sale in the month of April so I can presume they went elsewhere.

At the moment i have a gifted bottle of Barolo and a hardy’s crest cos it was £10 reduced to £5 :p
and a Friends homemade bottle of elderflower champagne

Yep, that's right.

I've been a member for a few years and have yet to have a bottle that I've been disappointed with. To say you're 'assured of a good drop' is spot on, IMHO... but I'm no wino.

On the Champagne front - forget Tesco (monopoly) and try these guys :

ChampagneWarehouse.com

They supply M&S and others with 'non branded' Champagnes - ask for Tony - most of which are exactly the same grape mixtures as far far more expensive Champagnes that everyone says they like....

Personal recommendation :

J P Morel Carte Noir

Is exactly the same grapes as Charles Heidseck Brut Reserve that costs £29.99 a bottle... their price ~ £22 and I can't taste the difference (although after a bottle who can!!!! :D)

Hey and they deliver to your door.. .so you don't even have to get out the chair to order!

Hi Kendalcottages, no offence intended,
i just read the wilki post on winos and realised it was a bit harsh

I was impressed with the wine society’s own label pinot grigio i think that was £7 and was excellent for the price.

I have just been to my local Indian shop and my eye caught a bottle of Buckfast and sat near it some barley wine,

Now there’s a couple of tasty drops
