If I mentioned the ones I'm involved with all I'd do is upset people like Barry ("serial entrepreneur") who like to "garner" ;) all the adoration from those here. I couldn't be bothered with maintaining a fan club. ;)

Oh come on David, gives us a few hand outs at least, interested to know some you've been involved in selling/brokering? After all, you were happy to disclose in public a private transaction I made :p

Am I the only person who isn't all that interested in what invincible does or doesn't own ? Given his tag isn't accredited, it should say it all.

As a Channel Partner or Self Managed Tag which fulfilled the requirements, you can only have 5% of your total domains in some one elses name who isn't connected to you. Its speculation but logical unless nominet have made an exception for you to hold client names when they refused me the very same.

Edit: Point was, who cares what you own/lease/borrow/broker/front/rent :).

I'd have thought that any extra information about how a particular market works, including what one person does in broking, selling, etc, is of interest to someone at least - me included.

Hi,

What's the best way of maximising the sale value of a generic domain? (say a .co.uk with rights)

I know that listing it on Acorn gets a lowish value because of the audience I'm selling to.

Domainlore probably gets a bit more.

If I email details of the domain's availability to potential buyers and point them to Domainlore, then I may get a better result still.

I could list it on Sedo and wait if I'm in no particular hurry.

But if I have a good generic domain name in the financial arena, let's say, where I do go to sell it at a good price?

is this where a broker adds value?

I can only sell it once and I want to sell it well.

(I have a domain in mind, but I may still decide to keep it and build it out.)

Cheers.

I agree, don't get me wrong, his input is interesting. I'm not disputing that. He's had a hand in big deals and his experience is valuable, its good he's willing to share.

What I don't get is why is it important to determine what is registered to him and what his registered to lord lucan, keyser soze or the toothfairy. Surely the juice is in the details you mention ?

Hi invincible,

Yeah, I have no problem mentioning the domain as I have previously mentioned it on Acorn....

InvestmentAdvice (.co)(.uk) & (.uk rights)

No as many exacts as you'd perhaps expect, but a worthy domain all the same, I'd have thought.

Cheers.

To be honest I can't see a broker wanting to take that one on, I doubt there is enough in it to be worth the effort.

Think about who would want to build a site on it. You could probably pitch it to individual IFAs, though if they have an established site already it could be a tough sell - maybe look for agencies who've done multiple IFA sites and suggest it to them for their next client.

Anyone offering paid investment advice needs to be highly credible - a firm will be looking for a high end brand, not a low end EMD.

If I was going to put enough time, effort and money in to rank a site for these keywords then I would want to do it on a top tier domain
