Not sure but do hope the dvla don't run some kind of drs as if I don't reply boom they'll take my plate and my car.

The DVLA may just say you never actually owned the plate, you just had rights to renew and fix it every 2 years. Sounds like they'd never get away with it, but there are companies out there that do!

The DVLA are even worse than Nominet, they can take your plate off you, put your car on a Q plate, fine you, and limit your ability to purchase private plates in the future. :)

yep they aren't good.

I wanted to put my plate on retention and they wanted to charge me £130 :confused:

How about f off you bunch of idiots

DVLA sells your details to criminals.

The Government is selling the names and home addresses of motorists on its drivers' database to convicted criminals, a Mail on Sunday investigation has revealed.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) tells would-be wheel-clampers there is "no problem" with them buying drivers' home addresses - even if they have a criminal record.

Indeed, the two bosses of one clamping firm on the list of companies to whom the DVLA is happy to sell drivers' details are currently serving seven years' jail between them for extorting money from motorists.

Youd think they would just send out a cd full of the info for free wouldnt you!!

Mate you have no idea how bad it is.

I worked for a solicitors dealing with Motor insurance recoveries from third parties.

I would, as a person not security cleared or anything, request from the DVLA the owner details of a car just via the Reg Plate details. I'd get there Name, Address, Date of Birth all for the price of £2.50 and a 7 day wait.

DVLA did no checks to see why I wanted a particular cars details and if they were even in a crash with my client. They'd just hand them over, lol

Isn't life great
