Any possible value?

Will shortly develop a niche Playstation vr site to go with it.

I suppose it's only for the lifespan of the ps4 but I'm guessing it still has around 6 years left.

I was shocked to learn that games consoles only refresh every 7-8 years. There has been a few VR bloggers suggest that they may speed it up a little after Sony recently admitted the current hardware is no where near as good the Rift due to the PS4 lacking the power PCs have.

If they wait 5-6 yrs, who knows what will have happened, and they may have lost the foothold, same for xbox and others. The life span maybe shorter than expected, aside from potential TM issues.

Yeah good point, I read that also, was a bit shocked Playstation admitted that, especially at this stage.

I don't think they had any choice. A console can't compete on any level with a PC. With pascal around the corner I saw VR ready machine with a 980 8gb card at under a grand Inc headset.

As pascal gets closer I think we will see £700 solid VR machines, with double or quadruple the resolution and frame rate current gen console has.

So cheap VR PC will flood the flow, windows doing their unified gaming platform means xbox owners *could* get all their games ported to a PC. It could end up being a massacre for Sony.

I still think 2017 will be the VR kick off, this year will be 8 track vs cassette, vhs vs betamax, cd vs mini disc or any other tech battle.

With this in mind, I wouldn't put too much in hardware specific names of course accelerater is more into it and he contradicts my opinion and in all honestly I know bugger all about consoles, I see console games akin with a spectrum or atari 2600

I have noticed my son, his cousins and his friends are all moving towards playing games on PC than consoles recently, so you're probably correct.

Consoles (like the old retro consoles and old computers) all have different platforms and not compatible with each other, so as you say, they will probably die out and be replaced by a single platform console which you can upgrade, just like a PC but more plug n play.

Not to me. Technically speaking it's a Trademark infringing domain as Sony will clearly have a PS4 trademark, so you could not put any PS4 related content on it without them challenging you for the domain (if they have a habit of doing that).

The domain is mostly a non-starter. You have to avoid trademark terms. As soon as you put Sony PS4 content on it (unless you got prior permission, which is unlikely) you are open to Nominet challenge on the domain, which you would definitely lose, and then legal action from Sony.

You could use the domain for non-Sony PS4 content however, as it could mean something else, e.g. an acronym such as "price strategy for virtual reality" or something You're lucky in that 4 can mean "for" ...

It seems Sony are including an external "processor" unit, and for the headset+camera+processor unit, its another £400 (ish) on top of the £300 for the PS4 for sub-pc graphics ?

Sony are also planning a PS4 v2 with improved graphics to pump out 4k.

So looking at £900+ for the PS4 v2+VR, or you can get a PC+VR for the same money which is way way way more versatile and upgradable.

I think microsoft is in for a win here, their grand plan of unified gaming, so you can game on your phone / tablet with a streaming version like nVidia Shield did, and game on PC or XBOX and even play on both. Start on xbox, continue on PC at work, stream to tablet on bus.

Assuming Sony don't come for you, you could do well with the v2 spec.
