It's your reputation. Based on your posts on the forum people either leave good or bad 'rep' for users. When you receive more bad than good rep then your indicator shows red!

Click on the user control panel should show you who left you the bad rep. If they commented also what it was for.
Sadly people throw it round to easy and there's no way of others seeing what it was left for. have a word with admin if it was left for something stupid.
I always look at domain trader when making decisions as that's an open feedback system
