I agree it is serious, however it is laughable that we cant do straight talking on here without thread pulls and the like.

If someone is claiming your work as theirs - it ought to be public.


Incidently the two times I can recall calling someone out for nicking stuff both threads were pulled.

Rob you complain about threads being pulled then you post a username as you *guess* who you think it is.

I don't agree with that and will pull that post as I'm sure you wouldn't like it if someone named you as a guess to who it is and it's not even you making the complaint.

There are hints posted as well, so I hope that they get nuked as well As someone said, the clue was hardly hard to figure out.

If Acorn has a straightforward policy in terms of name and shame, and strikes and bans then this farcical dancing around facts wouldnt be needed.

Dale is a no bullshit chap, and I trust him enough to know he would not make posts like this on a whim.

I think it is very dodgy that people can transact in a dubious manner and still be allowed on here with no mention of it. Yes there are reps and feedback, but they get removed as well.

Likewise I would welcome this becoming 'acorn policy' formally going forward so everyone knows where they stand ie. lie, mislead or be dodgy and you are not welcome on acorn.

Srsly? If the accusation is proven how on earth can the user be allowed to stay a member?

Fraud by false representation is a criminal offence under the Fraud Act 2006 - if the accusations are true the perpetrator should have a lot more to worry about than whether they are banned or not.

That's a completely difference scenario all together. Selling a domain and saying "one of my recent catches" when it has been caught by a third party is neither here nor there. Trying to sell a drop catch script on the basis it caught specific names when it didn't is fraud.

I have spoken by phone to one of the "accused" and it's quite an involved story. I need to speak to all parties involved to be able to make an judgement on banning anyone.

To answer some previous points, there are plenty of rules on here but I can't makes rules to cover every eventuality. Clearly if someone has tried to mislead lead people in their posts on the forum I'll take action but it's often more complicated than you might think, especially when there are many people involved, as in this case, and it's all "he said" "she said" that I have to judge on.

I'm still digging.

He's apparently trying to sell a script based on it having caught domains which were actually caught using Dale's script (i.e. this person is attempting to deliberately mislead buyers).

Why not set up a council of trusted members to vote behind the scenes in an issue. Don't take all the responsibility yourself.
You could also do it pulically too which would be more fun but less ethical. I kind of imagine it like the opening scene from superman 2 with the sending of general zod to the phantom zone by jor-el

I say "my catches" as a short-hand. Saying "Catches that over a dozen drop-catchers caught for me" sounds like too much of a mouthful
