Poker.org - $1m

The highest I'm aware of is £6,000. Both games.org.uk and onlinecasino.org.uk sold at that price.

However the really big sales will almost always be subject to NDAs so we'll probably never know the actual record.

Anyone want to buy pus.org.uk for £6100, lol

** get it earning £500k a year then sell it for 5 times that. **

Sure .. let me know how you get on with that ...

What bit don't you get? That a gambling site can earn £500k a year? As I know some that are earning well over £100k a month.

Or that they can be acquired for 5 x multiple annual earnings??

Both are achievable.

Well, i dont get how in your wildest dreams you could expect to get £500k a year in turnover/revenue from poker.org.uk ... what you are indicating is that poker.org.uk would have it's own stand alone poker platform, do you know how much money is required to set up such a platform and how much traffic is required to make that pay ? your domain is not exactly a type-in name ...

The best you can hope for is to be a super affiliate of one of the larger poker websites ... The USA has banned online poker to US citizens, it is against the law, an indictable offence, jail time ... so there goes at least half of the Worlds online poker players ...

But hey, dont knock it meaning me for bringing up these observations .. your name/site poker.org.uk is a page 5 listing on Google.co.uk for the term poker, its not a great leap of faith or work to tweek your SEO to get it to page 2 ...

Every time that poker.org.uk domain name is mentioned in this acorn thread your domain is getting a bit more Google love due to the indexing of acorn on Google ... theres never going to be a better time for you to take advantage of the publicty surrounding the sale of poker.org ...

Good luck with it ...

Lol, I have no intention of becoming my own poker platform. I am talking about making £500k a year from affiliate marketing. Just to give you some background I have been self employed from affiliate marketing for the last 10 years and I know the UK affiliate sector very well. I have friends who run UK bingo/casino/poker/sportsbook affiliate sites and turn over £100k profit a month, all from UK traffic. It is possible, believe me.

My point is that with a domain like poker.org.uk, if I put some effort into it I could get onto page 1 in Google. In fact, when I was working on the site some years ago it was on page 1. So I know what can be done, and I know how to do it. It won't be easy but without a shadow of a doubt, £500k profit per year in the poker sector is achievable.

Ok so your an expert i shoulda shut-up .. read you blog, nice.

I like your friend Poppy D .. Lamborghinis aren't bad either ..

ha ha ha

Looks like you sound bolshy Kieron matey:):)

So what about my £20 off to take the problem away?

Doug

It is equally true that with the right amount of effort (and far more than was required a few years ago because of the number of big seo savvy players now in the market), you could get any poker related domain name / website to page 1 in Google and earn £500k (and I agree with Kieron that this is perfectly possible to earn, although by no means a formality). That's not something specific to poker.org.uk.

Very true. look at fulltiltpoker, garbage reg fee name. Not owning poker.com or any other A grade gambling name didn't hold them back one bit.

Unique Visitors Monthly US stats: Compete.com

poker.co.uk 932

poker.com 36,998

fulltiltpoker.com 533,495

pokerstars.com 567,564

partypoker.com 264,955

Site Comparison of partypoker.com (rank #7,315), fulltiltpoker.com (#3,502), pokerstars.com (#3,261) | Compete

Ah' almost forgot ... Poker.org = ZERO

First of all Compete.com is NOT accurate in the slightest. Second of all did you miss the part of my post where I said I haven't updated it in over 2 years?

Also, did I post anywhere that it was receiving lots of traffic? No. FYI the site does get traffic but not a lot, guess why? BECAUSE I HAVEN'T UPDATED IT IN OVER 2 YEARS! Sheesh!

Third of all, you post US stats when poker.org.UK is clearly a UK site targetted at the UK market

Wow Kieron, did i even mention poker.org.uk ? .. did i even mention you and your non updated site at all .. i dont think so ... this thread is about the sale of Poker.org for $1mil US it has nothing at all to do with your domain or your un-up-dated .org.uk ...

The stats i showed clearly state Compete US .. as they are the only stats that count at the moment for Poker.org .. where are any stats that can be shown for UK traffic .. care to share huh

You have already told me that you are an affiliate guru .. i acknowledged that back up the thread .. done and delt with ... get back onto the topic of Poker.org because thats the name that was sold not your .org.uk projected income of funny money ...

Kieron Do you really know people that turn over £100k per month in affiliate marketing in the online gambling sector? I mean really?

In all fairness Kieron - Americar made no mention of your domain in his post. Think he was backing up the claim that you could do just as well, even better, if you didn't have just the keyword in your domain.

Of course I do. Why? Do you think that's a lot? Have you never done a search in Google for the likes of "bingo", "poker" and "casino"? Loads and loads of affiliate sites rank really well for those terms. And there is big money to be had in online gaming as lots of gambling merchants give you residual commissions for life. So the guys who have been performing well in these sectors for years are coining it in.

Are you involved in affiliate marketing at all? It doesn't sound like you are but please believe me that there are lots and lots of super affiliates out there earning a ton of money.

First tentative steps being taken in affiliate marketing to be honest mate and I wasn't aware that much could be made from this industry.
£xxk maybe but I didn't think £xxxk at all.

I don't doubt you, I'm not questioning your honesty at all. It was genuinely a question of intrigue is all :)

Hey Kieron, if you're really making 5 or 6 figures in profits per month, why'd you sell UKOffer.com? Why not just pay someone a few hundred pounds a month to keep updating it regularly and then pocket the difference?

Not having a go, genuinely curious. To the outside observer, seems like you needed some cash quickly.
