Wanted: Domain Appraisal Poker (.gb.net)

After reading about Poker.org.uk going for £25,000, I decided to have a look if there were any Poker.* domains available, obviously not expecting to see any... to my surprise, Poker.gb.net was available to hand reg, and as it was the only one left I snapped it up without really thinking, "just in case" anyone else took it! (beginners mistake?) My logic was that even if the .gb.net was worth 0.1% of the .org.uk, it would be worth it's reg fee, but it would be interesting to hear what others on here think?

The immediate reaction will be that it's a useless subdomain. If you can get it to rank and enjoy some traffic, then more power to you. Good to see you have a realistic value comparison to the corresponding .org.uk, but as is so often the way, you'll need to develop it. I'm learning all this myself now as for the first time in years, I'm trying to develop some of my stuff rather than continually renewing it with no plan in mind.

Seems parking has died a death, along with the concept of minisites being of any use. The only way forward is to put the graft in and develop properly.

I did learn Wordpress, and I believe it's a good platform for no-hassle development. But you need quality content, and the time to create it.

I agree with Azooza. Getting the .co.uk /org.uk ranking would a big challenge so see little hope in this one getting top 20 on G. If you can get some long tail stuff going on and earnings then there will of course be value, but again, this all takes time that could maybe be better spent on a superior project.

Thanks for the advice, not sure what I will do with it at the moment, so I guess it will just have to go on the back burner for now until I think of something!

Stick a Poker forum on it, post like mad, promote, write original content, work like billyoh for 12 months min to get the forum rolling....sorted!

Stick at least Wordpress on with a couple of pages of unique content, at least get it indexed, rather than just leave it would be my advice

Value, I'm not sure about gb.net I'd guess not much unless its ranking like the other guys
