I bought it about 8 months ago for £49500.

Congrat's ... you put out the money and got the result ... I would hate to see your tax bill though .. j/k ... i would probably love a tax bill like that :D

Is this another case of the need for a real domain name marketing firm who has the ability to access the top companies and not just domain brokerage/auction houses ... obviously you knew that the name was desirable property did you go it alone selling this name ? in other words do you think that you could have done better ...

The highest price I can conceive the domain might have attained over the next 5 years would be something like £700k at the absolute top end (i.e. with all the luck in the world).

Realistically I think I would have had another offer in the same sort of range had I waited another couple of years, so it made good sense to sell it now at this price.

I knew the domain was vastly underpriced when I bought it.

Congrat's again .. a well thought out aquisition ...

On a similar theme Ringtone.com (the company) has recently been sold for more than $6.25 Million USD ...

175,000/49,500 = 3.53.

3.53 x 100 = 353.53%

That's what I get.

Yes but thats not the return is it?

0% return would be £50,000

100% return £100,000

200% return £150,000

250% return £175,000

I intended % gained, although return (being profit) as most of you have corrected as being.

Net Profit/Outlay = Return.

125,500/49,500 = 2.54

So my bad.

great sale, congrats with it!

An inspiration to us all!

cheers

Mally

I can see why Jee said the cigars are on James now

Just think when you offered to pay for the meal at Covent Garden you can now

Well done mate I bet the guy who sold it to you is kicking himself now

I wouldnt be. When you sell a domain like that you are taking money you are happy with or you would hold onto it as your always going to have people sniffing round it.

Whats to say the domain couldnt of been sold for £250k? Maybe it could of but it was sold for an amount the seller was happy with just as the previous seller did.

He who dares Rodders, he who dares!

A tremendous sale, good work.
