parketeer.com?

Rob, I'm not quite understanding your point about this thread. What is 'poor form' here?

I have no commercial or non-comercial links whatsoever to the registrant of the parketeer.co.uk domain or the well known registrant of the domain it points to.

Rob, Ill forgive you. In fact to be honest Kevin took the name before it became a thread on here. I would bet that there is hardly anyone on here that has'nt grabbed a name from an idea that was on here.
As for posting the affiliate link, yep guilty I know but hardly a crime.

DG

No not a crime, just personally I think it is poor form - as did Colin + co on the other thread where you posted a puff piece about a new parking service with an aff link.

There are posts from others (LeeOwen come to mind most) with people complaining about list miners / people regging similar names etc after posts - all generally not happy.

i have picked up people before over it, been called a ****** etc before - perhaps the worst insult was 'are you a solicitor' - its nothing personal - just a member on a couple of other forums and dont want to see this go the same way, domaining has an iffy reputation as it is, we dont need to do ourselves down :)

My point was that a fellow forum member has an affiliate link on mobilephones4u .co.uk , which is linked to on parketeer .co.uk - which i typed in after reading comments on the thread.

Initally my thoughts were 'this page does need a new designer' as it was just a single advert - but then clicked through... did whois etc etc

What it does show is I got the dates wrong , and that it in a way reflects well on Acorn - that we are home to very efficient domainers, that reg things as soon as possible ;)

I've been using for a week or more now and really like to concept of being able to optimise pages for S/E's. I currently use streamic for most of my domains, however for some reason that I can't seem to get an answer to search engines only index title and none of the content unlike namedrive that did at least index some of the content.

I have a few keyword rich domain names that should give me high rankings in google (at least that's my theory) if the content is suitable. I'm hoping that parketeer is going to achieve this and with 10+ pages indexed gives you 10 times amount of potential visitors than most parking co's if you are after traffic from s/e's rather than type in.

I've spoken to parketeer via live help and email (maxpowers?) and they were very helpful.

Still waiting for google to reindex me so too early to comment on rankings.

Please keep me informed of how things go for you on P. I think this has 'legs'.

Will do, I've been looking for something like this for a while, so quite optimistic. A lot more work than most parking co's but a lot less than developing a site from scratch. Hopefully the rewards will be there to make it all worthwhile.

Only been a week (but need leave couple of days for RSS feeds to be relevant to your sites) but adsense is similar to what I was getting with previous parking so not exactly risking a great deal, and hopefully should be considerably more.

PS I found them a week ago from RSS news on this site.

You might need check with parketeer on this one but it seems that the $2 is for a month starting on 1st so any you add now half way through the month will only cost $1 (at least that's how my control panel seems to be working) until end of month. A bargain !

I applied for my AdSense account with Google (I've never previously tried the AdSense route to money making) and they turned it down because "Parketeer is a parking company and AdSense isn't allowed on websites with parking providers". Err? is this right?

Sedo is a 'ppc' parking company and so I understand that AdSense isn't allowed there, but isn't Parketeer a domain hosting company with website developer and content tools? Am I being entangled in a web of google's semantic interpretation of it's own AdSense Policy?

Perhaps someone could clarify.... how exactly does the Parketeer approach differ to that of 1plus ??

One you pay up front for, the other takes a cut ?

Until now, parking companies have worked on the motto "The more you make, the more we take". Parketeer is simply different... give us $2 and go nuts driving traffic (don't spam). We don't make "more" money off those who put more of an investment into driving traffic to their domains. We don't charge more because you make more and we're completely transparent by using your own Google ads.

Static, I replied to your email with some specifics. I know that G technically states you can't use it on parking systems, but GoDaddy uses them, and I'm fairly certain Sedo uses them... just not average Joe. Why do these companies have more privileges from Google that commoners like us don't have? Dunno. We've had over 500 domains in here from a single adsense account for the past several months (growing as the system became more stable). So far, no flak from the big G on this one.

This is just conjecture, but it seems to me that the big companies put a lot of money into ensuring that people don't compare what they could be making to what they're given each month. We are trying to be much more transparent than that.

Redbird... "A lot more work than most parking co's but a lot less than developing a site from scratch"??? Actually, all we 'require' is a domain name and the category that you most closely affiliate your domain with, followed by the activation button. During development of this system, my partner had his 11 year old daughter entering domains into the system. We certainly offer "more options" than other companies for you to edit your mini-sites, but the initial setup is rather simple.

Also, you are exactly right about pro-rated domain charges. Joining on the 15th is only $1. Joining on the last day only costs about 3 cents. 'normal' billing starts up on the 1st of the next month...

Just to be unique... our credit system is figured to 4 decimal places. It keeps things accurate and seemed like fun.

The 'Keyword Target' is entered into the database each time you update it where it sits for a few hours (currently up to 12) until our content spider goes out for more info based on new keywords. In between the time when you request a new keyword and we go get some content for your keyword, we show content related to your theme. This should be in the same ballpark as your new keywords until the system tweaks itself for your new words. Google also states that they need up to 48 hours to match ads to your content.

Eventually, we will be offering an option for Parketeer's own ads through Adeteer (not built yet).

Maxpowers, I agree that you can set up very quick, however to get the best out of it you really need to set up the meta tags page names H1 tags page text, links etc for all 13 pages individually all relavant to SEO and that does take time. I wasn't knocking it, that is precisely what I like about it as no one else (that I know of allows you to do that).

You mention 200+ themes eventually, any ideas how long before we see a few more?

Dave

Absolutely, the way to get the most out of it is to tweak it, but at least with us, you have that option. I just wanted to help clarify that it was easy to put domains in and get started ;) That's where most places stop and I think as far as ease of entering domains goes, we're competitive with anyone else.

200+ themes? Well... it has been said around the 'virtual office' that we need to do this immediately. How long will it take to make the 200+ banners and themes and have them entered into the system? Maybe over the next couple weeks? Maybe things will trickle in as they are created. I can speak for the code, but I'm not in any way a designer :) I do know that we want to get the themes in as soon as possible, but we are also looking for decent themes and sorting through some of the less-than-desirable ones.

I also know that we will eventually be offering new layouts for each theme, but this may be a ways off in the next major version release (along with many other 'tweak' options).

Can you affix an adsense channel to each 'parked' domain so that revenue is more easily tracked?

Google limits you to about 200 channels (I think). We simply provide a space for each domain to be assigned a channel as well as your user account (across all domains)

Hmm, I put one domain in and gave up because I couldnt work out how to set it up.Does that make me thick ?. OK yes. What I got stumped on was how to set up the Google adsense etc. I have got that but didnt know what your control panel was asking for as havent really used Adsense much. Have you got a "how to" for thickos ?.

Oops, i clicked the wrong link. Apologies :)

The Parketeer site itself is built as a walkthrough on the system and contains many pages about each area of your admin. We will be rewriting the admin page to include mouseover popups that help to explain what each form field is looking for.

In short, anything you add to the "My Account" page covers you on all domains and each domain has an override for your default setting. This goes for your adsense ID or for links out (if you wish).

on the "My Account" page, enter your Google pub- number...

Google shows this as
pub-6034449397262022
ca-6034449397262022
or
google_ad_client = "pub-6034449397262022";

depending on where you look for it over at the Google Adsense site www.google.com/adsense/

All we need entered is the numeric portion of this, or in the case above, 6034449397262022

This is the publisher ID that we look for and use when creating your pages.
