!!! OIL.UK

Seems legit. Oil get me coat...boom tish.

He was trying to sell it privately too - so I expect he just sold it privately and cancelled the auction?

Deny's thought it was too good for bidding and made a private offer :D lol, only joking btw I dont actually know that happened.

My bet is that it was the tried and tested good old shillbidding.com

I'm surprised it got what it did anyway, oils.uk would have been much nicer. Not sure what I'd do with oil.uk

Guess @RobM has missed these ones...

These July .uk registrations oil, todd, blockbuster, were held afterwards without nameservers, and now they appear out of la-la land.

CatchTiger bidding for oil.uk:

"oil.uk

  • € 2.727,-Friday 28-6 | 11:23:30 | anonymous"

Did CatchTiger get this domain, or was it caught direct by Grigory Lyulyev or someone else?

The guy could be totally bona fide, I'm just intrigued about the background.

The crux is that there are 'unknowables' - hence the brake on any actions.

How can anyone precisely know if *one individual* (I guess we could all name a name) collected thousands of targets, masterminded a cartel of 'registrars', and co-ordinated the running of scripts through those many 'registrars', for names that if caught would be pooled for profit? Did these newbie registrars all even know how to operate the scripts themselves, or were their operations simply phantom set ups, being run through a central 'control' computer?

All of this is (I suppose) almost completely unknowable, because the multiple registrars' computers can be masked, or operated at a distance to fire off different locations, or if masking was efficient could even perhaps have simply been a single control room, with 15 or 20 computers each operating as a supposedly independent 'registrar'.

Who knows.

What is demonstrable is the success of these scripts collectively, and also the names' appearance for sale on a specific platform.

But maybe the *one individual* was just some benevolent guy, training up a band of newbies, out of a philanthropic desire to help a few small businesses earn some pocket-money...

Something strange, in the neighbourhood... that I would agree, Ben. It's a model that others may also have used. This is just the most obvious one.

I am surprised that my name brought there. I am not related to oil.com (nice domain though) or that other Dmitry.

Perhaps Denys don't like this name or smth. I got refused from domainlore registration too, he said that I probably part of secret group since I am newbie. Guh..

Anyways, don't want to hijack this thread, I have introduction thread there so we can chat outside of oil.com :)
P.S. if you guys have some good crypto domains for sale, please DM, I am up for it.
