Wanted: Website Review Not to Raunchy?

I would aim to tailor the website either all towards fancy dress or all towards a website for people who have more of an interest in burlesque and cover the lingerie aspect. For example, I would imagine those wanting fancy dress won't be interested in the history of burlesque, dancing or club locations. At the moment you have done a bit of both, which probably won't work as well.

Personally I think there is more scope in developing a website for burlesque fans as there is more sales potential and I imagine the average order values will be higher (if you're planning to monetise with affiliate links). Burlesque fancy dress is perhaps a bit too limited and niche, so you could just remove the fancy dress element. All my opinion of course.

I would aim at the vintage lingerie aspect, rather than fancy dress. No self respecting burlesque artist would use 'smiffys' stuff, and its those people who drop the big bucks. So I'd shy away from the tack and concentrate on the gold.

Burlesque is all about the props, corsets, and other finery. There are multiple drop shippers and affiliates who do a beginner and intermediate items for burlesque. More elaborate items are harder to come by and usually custom orders.

If your serious about giving this a go I would visit Erotica, Venus, Night of the Senses and some of the other 'scene' type events. My business partner has the plaural, which I passed up as not being a real word but he liked the idea of people saying "I'm popping to tescos/asdas" and such like.

My partners idea is purely shopping, but you could create a portal for all thinsg burlesque, show listings, events, shopping, book acts, the works.

Burlesque along with Pole is becoming a serious fitness trend at the moment, I have seen adverts for both in gyms. You could create a sort of fusion between that with a little work.

To raunchy?

Thanks Skinner,
Great information, Plenty to think over.
I will Look more into it.
Cheers

I agree with the other replies. Stick to the classic vintage stuff and not fancy dress. Also I think a lot of people tend to buy fancy dress from eBay as only going to wear once or twice for a themed party.

I would also suggest adding some more products to the main content area as there is a lot of text

Cheers
Gary
